Katie Brown was a young TV reporter in Australia when she accidentally inhaled cannabis smoke during what appears to be a live cross.
In a throwback on her Instagram feed, she posted a video showing the moment she appeared to become choked by the fumes.
The reporter now works for Sunrise on 7, a weekday breakfast show in the Land Down Under, but started out with Nine news.
It was with them that she was ‘covering a marijuana raid when the wind changed’…
In her caption she wrote: ‘Don’t remember how my story finished, but I remember being so hungry all day. Throwback to maybe 2012/13 in Coffs Harbour!’
On Threads, justplanestupid remarked: ‘Coffs Harbour is the best possible name for the place 😂.’
The video shows Katie mid-report with a blazing fire in the background. Speaking to viewers at home, she says: ‘Police have taken the cannabis to a private location to destroy.’
As she comes to the end of her sentence, a man’s laugh can be heard in the background before Katie doubles over after being engulfed in a plume of marijuana smoke.
She closes her eyes and opens her mouth wide as she looks to struggle with the fumes from what pinoyslice on Instagram called a ‘truck sized crop bong’.
Erinvholland also said in reference to her caption: ‘The fact you don’t remember which year is everything we need to know hahahaha.’
Others, like cowgirlsurf.club demanded more: ‘We need to see the full video 😂.’ And lozmarkham called it ‘iconic’.
Judging from the comments, Katie appears to be a well-loved member of the Seven Network, where she has worked for four and a half years.
She has a background in sports journalism and now works as a roving reporter for the channel, ‘giving away big prizes and meeting Sunrise viewers with extraordinary stories’ as it’s website informs.
It’s not the only recent ‘throwback’ on her grid. Earlier this month Katie posted a video she created aged 21 while trying to get a job on Channel 10.
Accompanying the goofy video which begins with a close up of her open mouth, she wrote: ‘Life’s a bit serious and scary at the moment, so here’s a throwback Thursday for a laugh. […]
‘I remember I wanted this Taste Master job soooooo bad!’
She continued: ‘But I’m glad I lost that because now I do have the best job in the world!!’
