I’m A Celebrity fans have swooped to Adam Thomas’ defence after an explosive confrontation with co-star Jimmy Bullard.

The pair ferociously clashed heads on Tuesday night’s episode of the South Africa All Stars version when Jimmy’s, 47, sudden decision to leave the camp by invoking the titular phrase almost brought the Waterloo Road star down with him.

Both of them were jointly taking part in an insect-infected bushtucker trial in which Adam was already covered in a plethora of ants. Stood on the outside ahead of joining himself, Jimmy decided he ‘wasn’t feeling it’ and declared: ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’.

However, in this case, forfeiting his spot on the show would also ruin it for Adam, who was having none of it as he stormed out to confront the former footballer.

Watched on by their shocked campmates, the Emmerdale actor asked: ‘ “Are you f***ing taking the p***?… I am in there getting covered in f***ing ants!’

Jimmy replied: ‘Woah, woah, woah – calm down, that’s pathetic!’ as Dam headed backstage, still furious, saying: ‘I’ve done all that… for him to say I’m A Celeb.’

A Jimmy doubled down on his decision to withdraw to the others, Aam can be heard swearing up a (bleeped out) storm and, later, sobbing with Scarlett Moffat explaining that he wanted to continue for his kids.

After more heated words were exchanged, in the end, hosts Ant and Dec took pity on a helpless Adam and the show rules were bent so Jimmy was sent packing, and the actor could stay.

The furious row (the bad blood between the duo is reportedly still raging on) comes after a tough stint for Adam, who was also facing grief from David Haye.

After this latest meltdown, some fans agreed with Jimmy that Adam was ‘overreacting’ to the situation, but plenty more spoke up in his support.

‘Honestly I’m watching this and Adams crashout is so valid. Jimmy is being such a prick, I mean he could’ve at least ATTEMPTED the trial.

‘”Not feeling it” is not an excuse. And he’s being despicable to Adam – even laughing at him. Despicable,’ Reddit user Professional_Meal885 wrote.

‘It seems like he wanted to just get Adam out, which seems shady. I like Jimmy a swell, this is out of order,’ JonCee500 shared.

Many have criticised Jimmy (Picture: ITV)

‘Seems malicious. He’s no genuine sympathy for what he’s taken from him,’ IllustriousStudy133 added.

‘Yeah, I would have been fuming if I was in Adam’s position. Why would you just accept that??’ Adroable_Swan8977 wrote.

‘I felt like that was one hundred percent planned that Jimmy would take Adam out. Absolutely disgusted in Jimmy,’ fantastic_simple8977 accused.

‘I’m absolutely baffled at what he was even thinking !!!? Makes not one bit of sense !! Poor Adam,’ UnusualHandle6178 echoed.

The Mail has claimed that only a fraction of the fight was aired, with sources close to Jimmy claiming he was still ‘seething’ and scenes including Adam calling him a ‘c***’ were later cut from broadcast.

An insider said: ‘Adam just completely lost it and went for Jimmy. He called him a c*** and Jimmy believes that he tried to kick him, too.’

In a comment to Metro, ITV pushed back. In response to the kicking claims, a spokesperson said: ‘This is categorically not true.  Adam did not try to kick Jimmy.’

And on the network cutting elements of the argument for broadcast, added: ‘We show an accurate and fair representation of events.’

Metro has reached out to Adam Thomas and Jimmy Bullard’s representatives for comment.

I’m A Celebrity returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
