Kate Middleton and Prince William recently attended a state banquet at Windsor Castle for French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. It was a formal occasion, of course, but it was also a date night for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Complete with flirtation and a rare PDA moment.
Kate Middleton and Prince William Show Their Love
William and Kate usually avoid public displays of affection, especially when they are performing royal duties. But at the French state visit, the couple was spotted sneaking in some subtle PDA that the cameras nearly missed. The Prince and Princess of Wales made some sweet gestures and held hands while welcoming President Macron and his wife to the UK.
The couple, both 43, had their fingers linked as they walked down the stairs for their arrival. Kate wore a stunning designer gown and heels, so she welcomed the extra help from William to help keep her balance.
In another moment during the welcome, alongside King Charles and Queen Camilla, Kate placed her hand around William’s back.
Royal couples have a history of keeping things formal in public and keeping the affection on the down low. But it seems that William and Kate have recently relaxed the unwritten royal PDA rules.
The Princess of Wales Returns to the Spotlight
The Princess of Wales stepped out of the spotlight and away from royal duties for nearly a year after her cancer diagnosis was announced in March 2024. She released a personal home video last September to let fans know that she had completed chemotherapy, which included scenes of her and William packing on the PDA.Â
The couple was seen holding hands, cuddling, and lying on the beach. They even shared a photo of William kissing Kate on the cheek. In early January, Kate announced her “relief” to be in remission.
Kate has slowly returned to public life in recent weeks, and a new regal portrait of the couple was released before the Macrons arrived.
“Ready for what promises to be a wonderful State Banquet this evening in Windsor ð«ð·ð¬ð§,” their team wrote on social media.
Kate Middleton Stunned in a $135 Million Tiara
Middleton’s fashion choices during her latest appearance have made headlines because of how intentional every detail was. She wore a stunning bespoke red gown by Sarah Burton for Givenchy, honoring both a British designer and a major French fashion house.
The gownâs bright red hue echoed the colors of the French flag. Her Givenchy clutch was embroidered with lily of the valley, a flower with ties to both French tradition and Christian Dior. Per People, lily of the valley âtraditionally represents happiness, humility, and motherhood,â and was considered Diorâs good-luck charm.
Capping off the look was the famous Queen Mary Lover’s Knot tiara, valued at an astonishing $135 million. The exquisite headpiece was a favorite of the late Princess Diana, and now it’s the go-to tiara for Middleton.
Middleton has had only 15 public tiara moments since her 2011 wedding to Prince William, and 10 of them have featured the Loverâs Knot — a living piece of royal history.
