The second series of The Celebrity Traitors is feeling very real now, as several stars have arrived for filming – the latest being Miranda Hart.
It was announced this weekend that the comedian would be entering the castle in the Scottish Highlands to play the showbiz edition of Claudia Winkleman’s twisted game show.
Miranda, 53, joins 20 other famous faces, including British TV icons like Maya Jama and Ross Kemp, musician James Blunt, and actor Richard E Grant.
It marks somewhat of a television comeback for the beloved sitcom star, who dipped out of the limelight for five years due to her chronic illness struggles.
During that time, the famously private actress also got married, shocking fans with the revelation in October 2024.
While she initially kept her husband’s identity out of the spotlight, they’ve been seen together several times since, including today as he accompanied her for three weeks of shooting in Inverness.
Who is Miranda Hart’s husband?
Miranda is married to 60-year-old Richard Fairs.

While his wife has appeared on shows watched by millions and brushed shoulders with A-listers, Richard’s job is very different, as he works as a surveyor and owns a company called The Building Consultancy.
He and Miranda first met during lockdown in 2020 when he cleared mould from her house. One thing led to another, and Richard proposed next to a lake in Kew Gardens, West London, causing her to immediately ‘burst out crying’ and say ‘yes’ before he’d even finished speaking.
They tied the knot at St Peter and St Paul church in Hambledon in July 2024, with The Sun reporting that they celebrated their nuptials with a Hawaiian-themed party.
It wasn’t until months later that the union became public knowledge, as Miranda penned in her book, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You: ‘He’s not my boyfriend. He’s my husband. We got married when I was 51.’

Choosing not to publish his name, Miranda referred to her partner as ‘Mould Man’ or ‘The Boy from Bristol’ throughout her memoir, describing his look as a ‘salt-and-pepper greying hair look on a fine-featured man’.
She debuted her wedding ring on The One Show, then thanked her followers for their congratulatory messages, saying in a video that did not show his face: ‘I just wanted to say thank you so much for the lovely messages.
‘I’ve got my best friend to do life with, and it’s wonderful.’
She then high-fived her project manager hubby, who was off-camera.
Why did Miranda disappear from the public eye?
The comedy queen revealed in 2024 that she had been chronically ill for three years.
Explaining further, she wrote in her memoir that she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease: ‘Probably when I was about 14 or 15, I got a tick-borne illness… and that’s when my symptoms started.’
Ultimately, Miranda’s health woes left her bed-bound and house-bound with ME/CFS, and her condition ‘played havoc with [her] immune system’, leading to viral infections like shingles being reactivated constantly.
It took her decades to be properly diagnosed, with doctors long dismissing her symptoms as anxiety and agoraphobia.

On relaunching her career at last, Miranda told the BBC in late 2024 that, ‘once you’ve been bed-bound with a fatigue-based illness, you miss life a lot.’
‘I’m really keen to get back to some silliness now,’ she added. ‘I miss the studio floor, I miss laughter. I don’t have any ideas yet, they haven’t percolated through. But I miss fooling around.’
Who else is doing Celebrity Traitors season 2?
Series 2 of Celebrity Traitors marks Miranda’s first major TV role in years, with previous appearances being limited to brief cameos on the likes of Comic Relief or Strictly Come Dancing.
Last year, unlikely Traitor Alan Carr took home the full £87,500 for his charity. Hoping to follow his lead this time is a line-up many fans have already declared the very best reality TV has to offer.
This includes broadcaster Amol Rajan, The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey, comedian James Acaster, model Jerry Hall, podcaster Joanne McNally, and stand-up favourite Joe Lycett.
They’ll join Corrie icon Julie Hesmondhalgh, content creator King Kenny, Little Mix member Leigh-Anne Pinnock, actor Michael Sheen, Industry’s Myha’la, TV scientist Professor Hannah Fry, and actress Sharon Rooney.
Rounding off the list, we have comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan and Heartstopper’s Sebastian Croft.
The Celebrity Traitors returns to the BBC later this year.
