Rumours have swirled around famous couple Spencer Matthews and Vogue Williams in recent weeks, leaving many wondering about their relationship.
Speculation about the state of Spencer and Vogue’s marriage has picked up in recent weeks, with reports that the pair have ‘split their business ventures adding fuel to the fire.
Spencer parted ways from his long-time agent and signing with a new management firm, YMU Group known for representing other major UK celebrities like Ant and Dec, Claudia Winkleman, and Davina McCall, according to The Daily Mail.
The TV personality arrived in Cape Town to kick off Project Se7ven on November 13, a mission to complete seven triathlons across seven continents in just 23 days.
Meanwhile, Vogue, 40, is a contestant on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, and with Spencer’s new venture set to wrap up on December 6, the day before I’m A Celeb ends, so he wasn’t there to greet Vogue at the end of the show’s famous bridge when her time in the jungle wrapped up on tonight’s episode.
Some have wondered why Spencer would choose to undertake the challenge while Vogue is on I’m A Celeb, making him unable to support his wife during the show. As a result, many have speculated about the state of the couple’s relationship.
Recently, Vogue addressed the rumours On her My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, sharing her frustration with the unfounded gossip to co-host Joanne McNally: ‘But I’m like, can we not spend, like, any time apart? Do we have to be sewn together now to show that we’re a united front.’
So while the couple continue to battle rumours, here’s everything you need to know about their high-profile romance.
When did Spencer and Vogue meet?
Spencer Matthews and Vogue Williams first crossed paths in early 2017, while training for the fourth series of the Channel 4 winter–sports reality show The Jump.
Despite rumours of an instant spark, their relationship didn’t start romantically.
Vogue later admitted she ‘didn’t fancy’ Spencer at first but they remained friends for a while after filming.
Speaking to Evoke, Vogue said: ‘He kept ringing me after we’d done The Jump together and I was like, “This guy is so strange” – he hadn’t grown on me yet! He’d call me and say he was out and about in Chelsea and I’d be like, “I live in East London, there’s no way I’m travelling 45 minutes to hang out with you.” We were just really good pals for ages.’
But after more time spent together, including in Austria and in social settings, their friendship turned into something more serious.
By January 2018, Spencer had proposed; months later, they were married.
How Spencer and Vogue’s wedding almost didn’t happen
The couple’s journey towards marriage was far from straightforward.
At the time they met, Spencer had a reputation for the ‘hard-party lifestyle,’ and Vogue had no interest in being a part of his antics.
In interviews, she admitted that she had serious doubts about whether their fling could turn into something stable.
‘I kind of met him with a preconceived idea, and I was like, “I’m not going to like him” because I thought he was a sociopath,’ she told The Sun.
But as she got to know him, her mind began to change. She continued: ‘He was so sound, but I was being really good at being single and I wanted to stay single, so I thought, “He’s going to be a really good friend” — that’s the first thing I thought.’
But eventually, Spencer’s sincerity and changes in lifestyle won her over.
Spencer explained in an interview with HeatWorld: ‘When we first started dating, I was a bad alcoholic. I would drink really early in the day, most days, and often to excess… When I met Vogue and we started our relationship, and when she got pregnant, it was a bit of a wake-up call for me.
‘I didn’t want to be that kind of father, I wanted to be present for my kids. So, I went sober. I completely knocked it on the head one day and I did just under four years of total abstinence.’
Still, the hesitation she felt early on meant their relationship nearly fizzled out before it ever got started, so the wedding in 2018 nearly never came to pass.
How many children do Spencer and Vogue have?
Spencer and Vogue share three children together: A son, born in September 2010, a daughter, born in 2020, and a second son, born in April 2022.
Their family life often features in Vogue’s media presence — and while she has said she once felt three was ‘enough,’ she has recently admitted she hasn’t ruled out a fourth child.
Vogue previously revealed to The Sunday Times: ‘I have all of my baby stuff stored because I don’t know what I’m doing there with babies. It’s funny, because I wouldn’t think it’s mad to have four.’
