ITV has just kicked off filming a new Michelle Keegan-led drama, which the broadcaster has promised is ‘set to have audiences on the edge of their seats’.

The Blame stars Brassic’s Keegan alongside Douglas Booth as two detective inspectors on a small-town police force where secrets, suspicion and systemic corruption run rampant.

The six-part thriller is currently being filmed in and around London, after shooting started last week, which the production team confirmed with a snap of Keegan and Booth holding a show clapperboard.

The caption read: ‘Shoot day one of The Blame. We couldn’t resist a clapperboard pic with the most gorgeous lead cast Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth.

‘Letting the vibes lead the way for our new ITV 6-part drama!!!’

Keegan stars as DI Emma Crane, while Booth is set to play DI Tom Radley. They’re joined in the cast by Mr Bates vs The Post Office star Ian Hart as DCI Kenneth Walker and Line of Duty’s Nigel Boyle as a forensic expert.

Based on the novel of the same name by Charlotte Langley, the official ITV announcement for The Blame promised the show would deliver ‘complex characters, unexpected twists and a mystery at its core’.

Sharing some background on the project, the production team’s Instagram caption continued: ‘The series begins when the body of teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen is discovered, sending shockwaves through the town of Wakestead.

‘As DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) dig deeper, what starts as a tragic death spirals into a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups and moral compromise.

‘As the clock ticks and trust fractures, Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.’

In the comments section on the post, TV fans shared their excitement for the six-parter, with @neighbours_edits writing: ‘I already know I want to watch this …Anything Michelle is in, I’m there. She’s brilliant in everything she’s in. Such an incredibly talented actress. Love her.’

Meanwhile, EastEnders alum Tracy-Ann Oberman commented: ‘Obsessed with Douglas Booth and Nigel Boyle is the best! Can’t wait for this!’

@jakee1233 added: ‘Eeeek exciting you know it’s gonna be good when Michelle is in it.’

The fresh project comes as Keegan is set to wrap up her role on Sky’s Brassic, with the seventh and final season set to arrive later this year.
