The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the biggest stages in the world, so it’s only right that the ‘GOAT’ steps up to perform.

Jay-Z was confirmed as next year’s artist after months of heavy speculation, which included rumoured names like Miley Cyrus.

The show, taking place on February 14 at California’s SoFi Stadium, will celebrate the Roc Nation founder’s 30 years in the music industry.

‘From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,’ said Jay-Z in a statement.

‘Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.’

In an announcement post featuring Jay-Z sitting in a stadium, Apple Music wrote: ‘GOAT’s out of the bag.’

‘GOAT’ is an acronym for ‘greatest of all time’, a fitting title for the music icon.

The Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show comes after a sold-out world tour, with gigs in London, Paris, and across the US.

His closing dates, also at SoFi Stadium, saw cameo appearances artists like Scarface, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg.

Of course, Jay-Z also brought out his daughter Blue Ivy and his equally legendary wife, Beyoncé.

It’s heavily rumoured that they could join him at the Super Bowl, which has previously been headlined by Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Madonna.

Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, has produced the event since 2019, so his debut has been expected for quite some time.

In a statement, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said: ‘For several years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Jay-Z and Roc Nation, and I’ve seen the extraordinary impact he has had on the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

‘When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him.

‘I couldn’t be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage.’

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of music and international content, added: ‘Jay-Z’s impact on global music culture is as profound as it is undeniable.

‘We’ve had the privilege of working closely with him these last few years to bring some of the world’s most exciting and prolific artists to the Super Bowl Halftime Show stage and we are so thrilled that he will be taking that stage himself this year. We know it’s going to be an incredible show.’

Earlier this year, Bad Bunny put on an Emmy-winning performance, making history as the first Latino male artist to take on the halftime show.

His affectionately nicknamed ‘Benito Bowl’ reached an average of 128.2 million viewers, which was above the 124.9 million average viewers achieved by the Super Bowl overall.

However, it was down from the record-breaking Kendrick show that brought in 133.5 million viewers in 2025.
