“The Bear” premiered on FX in June 2022 and quickly became one of the most talked-about shows. Season four was set to be its last, but now the hit series has been renewed for a fifth season. Recently, Jeremy Allen White opened up about his future with the show amid his big-screen success.
White appeared on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast in November 2025. While on the show, the topic of “The Bear” came up.
He said about its future, “The fourth season was going to be the last. Chris [Storer, the showâs creator and co-showrunner] called me on Christmas Eve last year and was like, âWeâre gonna do some more.â And, I donât know, that could happen again around this holiday time.”
White continued, “Thereâs no plans for it to be the last. Thereâs no plans right now for us to do more. I think itâs just all dependent on what Chris wants to do. But if it was up to me? I just feel so lucky to read Chrisâ words, and also to work with these actors whoâve become some of my best friends, so Iâd do it for a very long time.”

White recently starred as Bruce Springsteen in “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.” The film hit theaters in October 2025, premiering to strong reviews from critics and fans. While promoting the movie with Variety, he was asked about “The Bear” and how his experience on the show compares to his time on “Shameless.”
White explained, “Itâs different. My responsibility to that show feels different. I mean, itâs an ensemble like âShameless,â but I donât feel like I carried the same weight as [William H. Macy or Emmy Rossum] did on âShameless.âÂ
He continued, “There were some years on ‘Shameless’ where I felt more connected to Philip Gallagher, and there were some years I didnât. I feel really connected to Carmy, and I feel really connected to [‘The Bear’ creator] Christopher Storer in a way that, probably just due to my age, I didnât feel with [‘Shameless’ showrunner] John Wells always.”
The interviewer then asked when filming for “The Bear” season 5 would begin. White revealed, “Jan. 5 or something like that. Very soon.”
He Has Multiple Projects in the Works
There is considerable excitement for season 5 of “The Bear.” However, white also has several other projects on the horizon, many of which he has already filmed.
