While Jessica Simpson has been quietly liking many of Jeremy Renner‘s Instagram posts since January, the two newly single celebrities have now moved up to commenting on each other’s posts. The singer also announced her separation from Eric Johnson in January, revealing that the couple had been separated for some time. We still question how Renner and Simpson know each other — and how well. But, whether this is a reconnection or something new, we’re enjoying watching the flirty interactions on our social media feed.
Is There a Spark Between Jessica Simpson and Jeremy Renner? Fans Think So
Simpson’s first comment came on March 8, when the “Avengers” star posted a compilation of workout videos, many of which were shirtless. Simpson posted a fire emoji, which Renner ‘liked.’ On March 20, Renner popped up on her Instagram, writing “Congrats Jess!!!” on her post about her new album, Nashville Canyon Part 1. Just as Renner did, Simpson ‘liked’ it.
Their most recent interaction came on March 23, when Renner posted a reel of him working out with his mom. Simpson commented, “I love this oh my…Mama is STRONG…I need to go do sit ups now,” followed by the ‘rolling on the floor laughing’ emoji. Once again, he ‘liked’ it.
Upon closer inspection, the comments may be more recent, but Simpson has been liking Renner’s Instagram posts and leaving emojis for quite a while now, and vice versa. But something seems to have changed in the past few months, with the ‘likes’ becoming much more frequent. Could there be a spark building between these two behind their Instagram posts?
They Have More in Common Than You Think
Simpson has been very vocal about her new status, stating during her Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion performance that she was “now a very single lady.” Renner, who is more private about his personal life, seems to have also recently ended a relationship with 26-year-old influencer Cassandra “CC” Mason. While he never confirmed the relationship, a source told Page Six that the two dated off and on for eight months in 2024.
We don’t see Instagram reels of Simpson working out the way we do Renner, which seems to be a big part of his life. However, the pair have something in common: music. Simpson is known for her music from the early 2000s, but she admits she’s excited to start making music again after a 15-year hiatus.
While best known as an actor, Renner plays the guitar, keyboard, and drums and is also a singer/songwriter. He released his first album, The Medicine, in 2020, followed by Live For Now and Love and Titanium in 2024. If these two strike up a romance, perhaps a duet is in their future.
