JoJo Siwa fans were left confused after Chris Hughes stated he was ‘single’ while appearing on Celebrity MasterChef.
The Love Island star, 32, is among the cast of this year’s spin-off of the BBC show alongside the likes of Jamie Lomas, Dawn O’Porter, Jaki Graham, and Michelle Heaton.
In a confessional, however, he confused fans by saying he didn’t have a partner, despite dating popstar JoJo, 22, after the pair met on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.
‘So, I live on my own. I’ve been single for three years, so it’s not like I’m cooking for anyone.
‘If I’m just cooking for myself, no one can appreciate it, apart from me.”
‘It’s quite sad really, isn’t it? I need someone there to show off to in the kitchen, I’ve got the judges.’
Fans flocked to social media to question whether the episode was filmed before he met the Karma hitmaker due to the confusing comment.
‘How long ago was this filmed? Chris had been with JoJo for ages and he says he’s single?’ Travelprincess 99 wrote on X.
MsIkkle added: ‘Was this recorded before Chris and JoJo got together? Cause he just said one day I want to have a GF.’
Yogagirl300 said: ‘Why is Chris saying he’s been single for 3 years? This was filmed after he met JoJo surely?!’
Chris and JoJo met in the CBB house in April this year, immediately sparking relationship rumours due to their close friendship.
Soon after leaving the show, JoJo split with girlfriend Kath Ebbs, and JoJo and Chris hard-launched their relationship in May.
They have since kept fans updated on their budding romance, even speaking about the possibility of getting married.
‘A wedding is a two-person thing. So we would have to decide what it looks like,’ JoJo told The Sun.
‘But I do know that I want it to have a baby-blue scheme, and I need to help Chris make the playlist.
‘At the end of the day, we have a very public life, but we are still two humans who love each other very much.’
In September, JoJo also addressed rumours over the lovebirds’ family plans after sparking pregnancy speculation.
Speaking on Heart’s No Filter channel, JoJo was asked about having children and admitted: ‘I pester him about it, we pester each other about it.’
She continued: ‘The thing about Christopher and I is how we met, it accelerates your relationship like no other, right?
‘Just on a friendship dynamic and then all of a sudden we realised, clearly we like each other more than friends here, a lot more than friends.
‘I think we have a beautiful future ahead, and I think it’s very fast and it’s very quick, but it feels so right. I can’t explain it, but we have very fun, fun, fun things ahead of us that I’m looking forward to.’
JoJo added: ‘It’s everything I think anybody wants in life, is to feel this way and then to be treated this way and then to make a family this way and have your own little family this way.
‘Our families get along with each other, and so it’s like we’re like one big family. It’s gorgeous.’
Chris, meanwhile, previously revealed how he confessed his true feelings to JoJo.
He explained to The Sun: ‘I was confused about how I felt. Then I wasn’t confused anymore. I knew I needed to write it down to explain to her how I was feeling.’
The couple recently celebrated their six month anniversary, penning touching Instagram tributes to each other and their relationship.
Sharing a series of selfies of the couple across the globe, JoJo wrote: ‘6 months. Wouldn’t trade one day for anything,’ additionally saying she had had a ‘full heart’ for six months sharing a video of the two dancing together.
Chris, meanwhile, posted a picture of JoJo playing chess with the caption: ‘6 months with my chess partner.’
