Josh Duhamel Calls Ex-Wife Fergie a ‘Good Person’ in Rare Comments About Their Relationship Now

Josh Duhamel is opening up about where things stand with ex-wife Fergie, and it sounds like their relationship is in a very good place.

During the April 23 episode of the “Tomi Lahren Is Fearless” podcast, the “Ransom Canyon” actor shared rare comments about his relationship with the Black Eyed Peas star, calling their current dynamic “as good as it could possibly be.”

“We have a really good relationship, thankfully. She’s a good person, she’s a good mom,” Duhamel said. He also added that Fergie has a strong relationship with his current wife, Audra Mari, which has helped keep everything peaceful for their blended family.

Duhamel and Fergie were married from 2009 to 2019 and share son Axl, 12, whom they welcomed in 2013. After finalizing their divorce, the former couple were granted 50-50 joint custody and have continued to focus on keeping life as smooth as possible for their son.

“It’s very civil,” Duhamel said. “There’s not any sort of hostility between anybody. So that’s really all I care about and I’d like to keep it that way.”

Why Josh and Fergie Prioritized Peace After Their Split

Duhamel explained that both he and Fergie came from divorced families where their parents did not always get along, and they wanted something different for Axl.

In a previous 2023 interview, he shared that they both agreed on creating an easy and comfortable environment for their son without awkwardness or pressure, per Us Weekly.

“We both had parents who got divorced who didn’t get along so great and didn’t want to do the same thing to our kid,” he said at the time.

Over the years, the two have continued to show that approach through shared milestones like birthday parties, preschool graduation and family outings. Fergie has also publicly supported Duhamel’s major life moments, including his engagement to Mari and the couple’s pregnancy announcements.

Duhamel said their split was never messy and came down more to growing apart than conflict.

“There wasn’t anything wrong with it. We had a great time,” he previously shared, adding that they simply had different interests as he got older and wanted a quieter life back in North Dakota.

He also reflected on what it was like being married to Fergie during the height of her fame with The Black Eyed Peas, saying it took some adjusting because she was such a massive global star.

Still, he made it clear there are no hard feelings, saying he feels lucky that Fergie is a kind person and a great mother.

Life Now With Audra Mari and Baby No. 3 on the Way

Duhamel married Audra Mari in 2022, and the couple welcomed their son Shepherd in January 2024. He is also dad to Axl, making him a proud father of two boys for now.

That is about to change.

In March 2026, Mari announced that she and Duhamel are expecting their second child together, and it is a girl. She shared black-and-white maternity photos on Instagram and wrote, “Adding a little girl to our story… We can’t wait to meet you.”

Duhamel commented, “Can’t wait to meet that little cutie,” while Fergie also showed support by writing, “Welcome the cuteness!”

The moment highlighted just how strong the family dynamic remains between everyone involved.

Duhamel later said he is excited to officially become a girl dad and told Derek Hough he “cannot wait” to meet his daughter.

He and Mari now spend much of their time living in Minnesota with their family, where Duhamel has said he hopes to create something lasting for his children and eventually pass it down to them.

For now, his main focus remains simple: “I just want peace and I don’t want any in-fighting between anybody.”
