Actor Josh Gad and his family are going through an incredibly difficult period at the moment.
Two months ago, the 45-year-old vulnerably shared that his mother suffered a medical emergency. Since then, he’s frequently asked for prayers and support on social media.
Previously, Gad noted that his mother has her “ups and downs” as she works toward recovery. Now, he’s sharing another update as loved ones offer their support.
Josh Gad Provides a New Update on His Mother’s Health Condition
Josh Gad first confirmed his mother’s medical emergency earlier this year. His peers and fans alike sent an outpouring of love and support his way. Now, the actor is providing another update, noting that his mother has a very long road ahead of her.
“The past two months have been the hardest my fam and I have ever gone through. My Mom is such a fighter, but man is there an enormous fight ahead,” the “Frozen” star vulnerably shared on Instagram.
“When you survive the impossible, what comes next is a blessing on top of a steep mountain you have to traverse blindfolded on one leg. Thatâs where we are right now,” Gad continued. “The road ahead is truly difficult, but with the help of the incredible folks rehabilitating my mom and pushing her to once again walk and talk and fight, weâre going to climb that mountain â even if it means all of us pushing her uphill for a bit.”
“Grateful to the folks who do this for a living, working in PT , OT, respiratory, and medical support, giving families like mine endless hope even in the darkness that sometimes feels infinitely hopeless. Thank you all. ð” the actor concluded.
In the comments, many of Josh Gad’s peers shared encouraging wishes. Kristin Chenoweth and Amanda Kloots wrote that they were praying for his entire family during this frightening chapter.

The Actor Ended a Business Trip to Care For His Mother
So far, Josh Gad has respected his mother’s privacy and not publicly disclosed the details of her health issues.
On March 11, he first discussed his mother’s medical emergency on Instagram. Gad initially planned to celebrate the new “Frozen” exhibit at Disneyland Paris, but was forced to end his trip early to tend to his mother. He encouraged fans to visit the theme park and asked for prayers for his mother.
“She needs all the good energy she can get.ð” he wrote.
Although his acting schedule keeps him busy, Josh Gad shared in another update that his mother has many loved ones to help care for her.
“The next few months are going to be so incredibly difficult, but every day that my mom moves another muscle, smiles, attempts to speak, or breathe on her own, is an incredible day,” the 45-year-old shared a few weeks ago. “I am so grateful to the folks who are currently rehabilitating her and to my Stepdad Stan and my brother Jason, who are currently by her side. It was so beautiful to fly down to see her this weekend and see all the progress sheâs making.”
