British bombshell Kate Beckinsale, 52, opened up to her fans online about the deep mourning she’s been left with since the passing of her parents and her beloved cat Clive.

The “Pearl Harbor” actress shared a 20-photo Instagram carousel on Friday, April 3, full of loving images of herself with Clive. The last image showed a screenshot of a text exchange where she and a friend talked about his body being in the end stages before he passed away.

Kate Beckinsale Deeply Mourns Her Loved Ones

Beckinsale captioned her post by detailing how her mom, Judy Loe, who died in July 2025, called her within hours of her cat’s death to tell her that she had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and doctors had given her only six months to live.

The actress also went into detail about her stepfather, Roy Battersby, who passed away in January 2024 after being diagnosed with two forms of cancer and suffering a massive stroke.

“I was adored once too Andrew Aguecheek, Twelfth Night,” Beckinsale wrote. “12 hours after he died my mother called to tell me she had been told she had an aggressive brain lining cancer and would be dead in six weeks. I flew her out to take care of her and of course she survived 2 years longer than that but my stepfather was diagnosed with skin cancer, then muscle invasive bladder cancer, and then had a catastrophic stroke followed by sepsis Now they are all gone, what can you do huh?”

Beckinsale went on to respond to many comments from her post, where she elaborated on her inner turmoil after witnessing the ones she loved diminish before her eyes under tragic circumstances.

When asked by a fan if she realized how loved and beautiful she is, Beckinsale replied, “no because I don’t see people because I fear people because I have been betrayed by every single person that I have supported and loved or they have died.”

Kate Beckinsale Opens Up About Her Vulnerability

Beckinsale recently wiped her Instagram clean, later unarchiving several posts. In one fan comment, thanking the actress for her vulnerability, Beckinsale responded by explaining why she scrubbed her social media, noting that Instagram “erased” memorable audio from conversations with her mom.

“anytime I have been vulnerable I have received so much unbelievable abuse you could not even imagine that’s why I have archived most of my posts,” she wrote. “And Instagram has removed all the audio from any posts that I am talking on even conversations with my dead mother as if it’s somehow a copyright issue that’s bullying. I don’t even know what to say about that but they have erased the conversations between me and my dead mother for absolutely no reason.”

While Beckinsale took on the grief of her stepfather’s death in 2024 as well as her mom’s terminal cancer diagnosis, she had her own bout with health.

Beckinsale was hospitalized for six weeks in 2024 after burning a hole in her esophagus due to the incredible stress she was under from handling the health decline of her stepfather, mom and cat all at once, TODAY reported.

She also defended herself in December 2025 after receiving hateful comments about her weight loss. In an Instagram video from that month, Beckinsale emphasized the toll that her mom’s death had taken on her, People reported. She also mentioned her dad Richard Beckinsale’s death when she was only five years old.

“2025 was a really really hard year. It was also the last year that my incredible mum was on this planet,” she said at the time. “So I feel really torn about letting go of it as well.”

“I watched my 31-year-old father die of a huge heart attack, and then I watched my stepfather die and I watched my mother degenerate and die,” Beckinsale added. “Such an incredible amount of suffering and what I will say, it doesn’t make you feel very hungry.”
