“Running Point” star Kate Hudson and her family have a huge reason to celebrate. Her oldest child, Ryder Robinson, just graduated from college.
Although Hudson split from Ryder’s father, Chris Robinson, in 2007, the exes are on excellent terms. Both showed up to support their son and shower him with love on his special day.
On top of that, the entire extended family rallied around Ryder at the ceremony in New York City.
Kate Hudson’s Blended Family Celebrated Ryder’s Graduation
Golden Globe winner Kate Hudson and musician Chris Robinson married in 2000. They went on to welcome their son, Ryder, in 2004 before divorcing in 2007. Although both went on to marry other people, they developed a strong co-parenting relationship for the sake of their son.
HELLO! reports Ryder Robinson graduated from New York University during the spring commencement ceremony on May 14, 2026. It was a huge family affair.
In addition to his parents, Ryder’s famous grandmother, Goldie Hawn, and her partner, Kurt Russell, attended the celebration. His half-siblings, Bingham Bellamy and Rani Rose, also attended, along with their own fathers.
While speaking with “Today,” Kate Hudson revealed that her oldest son is a man of many talents. The 22-year-old wants to follow in her footsteps and pursue acting. He’s also an incredible furniture maker.
“He loves designing furniture, and he’s making a sofa right now, which I’m really excited about. I’m like, ‘Maybe go in that direction, Ryder,’” the 47-year-old quipped.
Regardless of Ryder’s career choice, his family feels incredibly proud of his achievement.
“Heâs not a kid. Ryderâs 22,” Kate Hudson revealed in a previous interview with Jimmy Fallon. “Heâs graduating college in two weeks. We realized, I think, and I could get this wrong and offend some generation in my family, but I think heâs the first person ever in my family history to graduate college.”
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe also attended the New York University graduation ceremony. Their son, Deacon Phillippe, 22, also graduated. The pair divorced in 2007, but happily reunited to celebrate Deacon’s special day.
All of the Actress’ Children Are Talented Performers
In addition to Ryder, Kate Hudson has two younger children. She shares son Bingham Bellamy, 14, with Muse singer Matt Bellamy, and daughter Rani Rose, 7, with her current partner, Danny Fujikawa.
According to the actress, all the children share a deep love for music.
âWhich is great,â Hudson joked in an interview on “The Jennifer Hudson Show.” âI think I might have planned it out that way.â
The actress described her daughter as having great “pop star energy,” even though she’s only seven years old. Hudson teased that a family band could be in the works.
âI think itâs gonna happen,â she continued. âRyder plays the guitar and he sings and Bing is an amazing drummer. Heâs been drumming since he was about a year old.â
Fans are excited for the family and can’t wait to see where Ryder Robinson’s life takes him after graduating.
