Kate Hudson wore jelly shoes while on vacation in Greece, are they making a comeback?

Kate Hudson is currently on vacation in Greece with her family, including her fiance, Danny Fujikawa, and their two youngest kids, Rani, seven, and Bingham, 14. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are also there and I think her stepbrother Boston Russell is too. Kate has made a lot of headlines for her bikini photos, where she’s looking fit. She loves posting bikini photos, and I would do if I looked like that. It looks so relaxing there.

I wanted to talk about the fact that Kate is wearing jelly shoes in another photo from a carousel she posted. People magazine has a post about it. Jelly shoes have never really gone away, I guess, but I associate them with the 80s. I had the cage kind as a child and I remember them being uncomfortably stiff and flat. Shoe technology has surely improved and I’m sure the expensive pair Kate is wearing aren’t as bad as the ones I remember. I’m pretty sure she’s wearing a $140 pair from Nordstrom, ironically by the brand Ancient Greek Sandals. The blue-green ombre pair is really cute, but I would not pay over $50 for a pair of damn jelly shoes. Here are links to more affordable jelly shoes, the Steve Madden Grove Jelly Flat, which reviewers call “comfortable” and “adorable” and the Cushionaire modern lattice ballet flat, described as “super cute and comfy.” Now I want some jelly shoes, what is wrong with me?

Kate’s satin blue dress is so effortless-looking despite how formal it is. I wouldn’t think to dress it down like that, but it looks amazing. While I can’t find that exact dress, Asos has a light blue satin maxi dress with spaghetti straps for under $70. I also like the Roxy Spaghetti Strap Maxi Dress at Nordstrom, for $140. Quince’s European linen fit and flare midi dress is a very nice alternative and looks like it would pack well. That’s the dress in the photo at the top.

If you’re like me and prefer a more forgiving fabric, one of my favorite brands, Boden, has v-neck jersey midi dresses on sale for under $50. I bought this exact dress in red a few days ago and am anxiously waiting for the shipment. Jersey dresses are my favorite, especially wrap and shirt dresses, and I have a few from Boden.

Here are links to some other dresses I’m eyeing. I love a bold print and am eyeing this Kimono Midi Shirt Dress from Boden, especially in pink. I also am probably going to treat myself to the Sydney Twist Neck Jersey Dress in leafy cascade. I need that dress, right? Help me justify my purchase. It’s on sale! Asos has a tie back halter midi dress that’s also very cute.
