Katie Holmes Makes Rare Red Carpet Appearance at 2025 Tony Awards

Katie Holmes turned heads at the 2025 Tony Awards, and for a good reason! The actress made a stunning return to the spotlight at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, which left the audience in awe. Holmes, known for her everlasting elegance, made a rare red carpet appearance in a bold outfit choice that showcased her signature grace and modern style.

Holmes opted for a bold and classy look. The actress wore a custom Prada outfit that immediately caught the attention of fans. The outfit featured a vibrant green taffeta fabric top with a structured silhouette that added a sharp, dramatic touch to the look. She paired it with a soft, blush-pink, floor-length skirt, which was completely covered in shimmering beaded embellishments. The contrasting colors and textures struck a perfect balance between edgy and classic. But, there was also a subtle twist to the bold color choices.

Many users online commented that Holmes might have been paying a subtle tribute to the evening’s host, Cynthia Erivo. This came after she chose colors that were associated with the iconic Broadway musical “Wicked.” The green and pink combination directly nods to the show’s leading ladies, Elphaba and Glinda. It added a clever and stylish theatrical reference. Erivo turned heads last year for her performance of Elphaba in the “Wicked: Part 1” film, alongside Ariana Grande.

To complete her look, Holmes went on to accessorize with some delicate diamond stud earrings by Dana Rebecca Designs, along with some subtle rings that enhanced the glamour without overwhelming the outfit itself. Her hair was styled in a sleek, low bun, keeping her makeup soft with rosy cheeks, nude lips, and a hint of shimmer on the eyes.

Returning to Broadway and the Tonys

Holmes was not only a presenter at the event but also a nominee for her role in the Broadway revival of “Our Town.” She was joined by her castmates Jim Parsons, Richard Thomas, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston, Billy Eugene Jones, Donald Webber Jr., and Zoey Deutch. The production was nominated for Best Revival of a Play, competing against “Romeo + Juliet” and “Yellow Face.”

“Our Town,” originally written in 1938 by Thornton Wilder. It was revived on Broadway in October 2024 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Parsons took on the role of the Stage Manager, with Deutch as Emily Webb and Holmes portraying Mrs. Webb. The production concluded its run in January of this year.

Following the Tony nominations in May, Holmes expressed her excitement on Instagram, writing, “I am so grateful for our ‘Our Town’ family and so very excited that ‘Our Town’ was nominated for a Tony this morning. What an honor. This is a photo shoot and video @markseliger did for us this fall and I cherish it. Thank you Mark for your support ♥️.”

This marked the “Dawson’s Creek” actress’s first appearance at the Tony Awards since 2010, a 15-year return. Though widely known for her work in TV and film, Holmes has consistently returned to the stage throughout the years. She made her Broadway debut in 2008 with “All My Sons,” followed by “Dead Accounts” in 2012. Most recently, the actress also starred in the Off-Broadway production “The Wanderers” in 2023.
