Katie Price confirms Lee Andrews split on Good Morning Britain: ‘He scammed my heart’

Katie Price has confirmed her marriage to Lee Andrews is over, admitting she feels ‘embarrassed’ after realising the man she fell in love with may not have been who she thought he was.

The former glamour model, 48, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday following weeks of speculation over the fate of her whirlwind marriage, which began just days after she met Andrews in person earlier this year.

And despite insisting he never took money from her, Price said she now believes she was deceived in a far more painful way.

‘I feel embarrassed because I feel he scammed my heart,’ she told Susanna Reid and Ed Balls.

‘I feel like he scammed my heart and stole my trust that I had, and me defending a man constantly because he made me believe that, “Kate, come on, you know I’m not like this.”’

Price said she still loved Andrews, but had reached the point where she could no longer trust him after discovering what she described as repeated discrepancies between things he had told her and what she subsequently found herself.

‘I love him, but who is he?’ she said. ‘I love the man I met, but I just can’t take it. I’m not stupid.

‘I’ve been stupid. Well, obviously, I was stupid to fall for him. Now it’s really sad.’

The interview also saw GMB play a lengthy voice note sent by Andrews from jail in Dubai, in which he disputed reports about his cryptocurrency fortune and insisted he still loved his estranged wife.

Much of the extraordinary saga has centred on Andrews’ repeated claims to Price that he had millions in cryptocurrency.

Price stressed that she had never been interested in his money, saying: ‘I’ve never been with a man with money. With me, it’s never about going with a man with money. I’m self-made, and I have my own money.’

Asked directly whether she had married Andrews for his alleged $50million fortune, she replied: ‘No, he hasn’t scammed me for money, but I feel he has scammed me, because he fabricated a person that doesn’t exist.’

However, she admitted the apparent wealth had initially been an attractive ‘bonus’ after Andrews told her about a large home and repeatedly spoke about the millions he had coming in.

According to Price, Andrews eventually sent her details of a cryptocurrency wallet after repeatedly telling her there was $50m going into it and offering to give millions to both her and her father.

Admitting she was ‘so rubbish online’, Price said she enlisted the help of a friend who understood cryptocurrency to access the wallet while she was in Marbella.

What she claims they found came as something of a shock.

‘He said, “That’s his wallet.” I said, “What?” He said, “Look, he hasn’t got 50million in it.”’

Asked how much was there, Price replied: ‘It was three pounds – $3.02.’

Balls converted the figure to £2.22.

Andrews strongly denied that this represented his actual cryptocurrency holdings in the voice note played by GMB.

He claimed Price had been looking at ‘the wrong amount in the wrong wallet’ and maintained he did have the funds, even offering to transfer money to the GMB hosts to demonstrate that the wallet belonged to him.

He also said he hoped it would show $50m USDT by Wednesday and offered to back his claims with a lie detector test when he returns to the UK.

The claims about Andrews’ cryptocurrency holdings have not been independently verified.

Andrews also claimed he had never ‘thrown Kate under the bus’, while suggesting he felt the same had happened to him.

Addressing the marriage itself, he said divorce was ‘probably the best thing for it’, before adding: ‘I’ll never stop loving Kate. She’s a big part of my life.’

He ended the message: ‘I love Kate and I always will.’

Price admitted she believed that part. ‘I actually, I do believe he did,’ she said when asked whether Andrews had loved her.

‘I think he’s got himself in such a situation where I think where he copy and paste what he says to women that he actually did fall for me. I do believe he’s fallen in love with me.’

Asked whether she still loved him, she replied: ‘Yeah, like, doesn’t mean I don’t love him.’

But the cryptocurrency claims were far from the only thing that had caused Price to question their relationship.

She said Andrews had been telling her for around two months that his release from jail was imminent, including claims that he was seeing a judge or would be out the following day.

‘I’ve heard the same story every day. “I’m coming out tomorrow. I’m coming out tomorrow,”’ she said.

‘It’s – I’ve heard that for like two months.’

She also revealed that a ring Andrews allegedly told her was worth £72,000 turned out to contain lab-grown diamonds and was valued at around £5,000 when she attempted to have it insured. Price stressed that she had no issue with the diamonds being lab-grown – it was the apparent discrepancy over their value that bothered her.

‘I don’t care if it was a lab diamond. It’s a beautiful ring. Just don’t lie to me,’ she said.

Another red flag, she claimed, concerned an enormous Dubai property Andrews had shown her in photographs and videos before they met.

Price said he later drove her to the property, but they were never able to go inside, with Andrews allegedly explaining that it was tied up because of a civil matter.

‘How he words it, it seems so believable,’ she admitted.

Price also confirmed that women from Andrews’ past had attempted to warn her, including one woman in America who she said had been sent some of the same material about his supposed lifestyle.

Her own family were apparently less than surprised by the eventual outcome. ‘They said, “Well, it’s your own fault. We have told you,” and they’re right,’ Price admitted. ‘Everyone has been right, but I had to find out myself.’

Despite the bruising end to her latest marriage, Price said there had been one unexpected positive from spending so much time apart from Andrews while he remained in Dubai.

Rather than being devastated by the split, she said she had discovered she enjoyed being single.

‘I’ve loved being on my own in my own space without a man in my pocket, and I’m not sitting here like in previous relationships, heartbroken,’ she said.

‘I’m sitting here with a smile on my face, because in a way he’s done me a favour to make me realise, course you can be on your own, Kate. Look what you can do.’

Confirming there was no way back for the marriage, she added: ‘It is a shame it’s come to an end because I can’t let this drag on, and I won’t let it drag on.

‘If only he was honest to me, that’s all I ask.’

Price also firmly rejected any suggestion she had been involved in creating the increasingly bizarre saga herself.

‘I’m so not in on this,’ she insisted. ‘I’ve been naive to it because I’ve got a man, as you could tell, he’s good at talking, and I’ve believed it.’

While other women had alleged Andrews scammed them financially, Price reiterated that this was not what she was accusing him of doing to her.

‘He’s not asked me for money,’ she said. ‘But he has scammed me into believing he’s this person he’s not.’

For Price, the marriage ultimately came down to something considerably less complicated than crypto wallets, millions of dollars and diamonds.

‘Trust is so important,’ she said. ‘Don’t lie to me.’
