The nation has been gripped by the saga involving Katie Price’s husband Lee Andrews (Picture: wesleeeandrews)

Few things have the power to unite Great Britain; football and finding ways to survive an unbearable heatwave are two of them.

But, the past two weeks have presented another nation unifier – the mystery of Katie Price’s missing husband.

If you’ve been to a pub garden or even a wedding recently, you can bet that at least one group of friends has discussed the burning question that has gripped the nation: Where on god’s green earth is Lee Andrews?

According to Katie, he was last seen tied up in the back of a van after being ‘kidnapped’, but if you believe Lee’s dad, he’s been arrested in Dubai

Every mind-blowing update feels like it could be another storyline in a soap opera, but unfortunately for poor Katie, this is her real life, even if stranger than fiction. Reactions to the unbelievable drama have ranged from the unserious (influencers pretending to fly out to Dubai to start the manhunt for Lee) to genuine concern for Katie as she navigates yet another heartbreak amid claims she has been scammed by the businessman.

But one thing we can agree on is that, with Katie’s desperate pleas to help find her missing husband, Lee’s disappearance has brought us all together.

However, it’s not the first time the country has united for a completely bizarre reason…

Brooklyn Beckham’s bombshell statement

Everyone can remember where they were in January 2026 when Brooklyn Beckham dropped his jaw-dropping Instagram statement confirming his fallout with his family. I was washing the dishes.

Group chats were immediately popping off, highlighting the most standout lines in the lengthy black-and-white post.

‘I do not want to reconcile with my family.’

‘My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped.’

‘My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife… She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone, I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.’

The tea-spilling felt endless, and it was the first time that Brooklyn had fully addressed the feud with his parents, David and Victoria. He spoke of the drama at his and wife Nicola Peltz’s wedding and what it was really like being the eldest son of two of the most famous people in the world.

It was giving Harry and Meghan quitting the Royal Family 2.0.

Everyone called for Brooklyn to release the wedding tapes, news channels were debating the first big scandal of the year – dare I say, the decade, and memes imagining Victoria twerking on the dancefloor entertained us for weeks.

After the silliness had settled, everyone remembered that at the heart of it was a family in turmoil.

We still don’t have all the answers and, quite frankly, there’s a chance we never will.

Gary Barlow’s tall son

Late 2024 in the UK was a weird time. It was early November and Donald Trump was the big global story after winning his second presidency in the US. But in the UK, we were obsessed with a different tall man: Gary Barlow’s son.

In scenes you will definitely remember (because who could forget?) an image of the Take That star with his wife and children had the UK in a chokehold thanks to the shocking yet impressive stature of his eldest, son Daniel. You couldn’t move for memes of this young man, with Brits genuinely shaken that the relatively un-tall Gary could produce such a lofty boy.

Daniel, who was 21 at the time of his unexpected overnight fame, is actually 6ft 2in tall. Not unusually tall at all. But next to his diminutive dad, who stands at around 5ft 7in, it was more an optical illusion than anything else.

The memes ranged from gentle mocking to outright cruel, though, and after a while, everyone realised that, hey, actually, this could come across as a bit nasty. We had some laughs but finally came to our senses.

Wagatha Christie

There has never been a better micdrop than: ‘It’s……… Rebekah Vardy’s account.’

Coleen Rooney became a national hero in 2019 when she detailed her intricate investigation into who had been leaking stories about her to the press, ending her unexpected statement with the name in question: Rebekah Vardy.

Alas, her nickname Wagatha Christie was born.

Many of us thought the scandal would fade out after a week or two, but, in an unprecedented turn of events, the two actually ended up taking each other to court.

Rebekah accused Coleen of libel and the sparring WAGs finally went head-to-head during a High Court trial, which resulted in a loss for Rebekah.

Something completely unserious suddenly became very serious and we learned never to underestimate Coleen Rooney.

The Jet2 advert mockery of 2025

If the sound of Jess Glynne bellowing ‘darling hold my hand!’ sends shivers down your spine, then, same. But last year, us Brits had ourselves in hysterics by mocking the hell out of that cursed song and the Jet2 advert – so much so, the 2015 number one hit became last year’s most-heard songs of the year.

Thanks to a TikTok meme gone ultra-viral, people started sharing their most woeful holiday clips (falling into pools, Benidorm-style drunk chaos, paragliding fails etc etc) backed by the infectious Glynne earworm and the voice of ‘Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday…’. The nation was truly united with this You’ve Been Framed-esque trend, and a mutual love/loathing of the Jet2 holiday ad.

Perfect comedy. No notes.

David’s Dead

TV viewers couldn’t quite believe what they were watching in January 2016 and, to this day, we still can’t. It’s been 10 years since arguably the Greatest Reality TV Moment of All Time aired on Celebrity Big Brother, and nothing has topped it yet.

It was a serious case of mistaken identity in the Big Brother house when Angie Bowie, the ex-wife of David Bowie, heard the news of the legendary singer’s death. Obviously devastated his demise, she confided in fellow housemate Tiffany Pollard. However, upon uttering the words ‘David’s dead’, Angie provoked a right old storm because, as it happened, David Gest (another celeb housemate), was feeling poorly that day and had gone to rest in bed.

Cue absolute panic as Tiffany thought Angie meant David Gest had died, not David Bowie… and was just lying in bed, dead. It took an awkward amount of time for Tiffany to be calmed down and told that actually, no, it was Ziggy Stardust who had in fact passed on, not their housemate.

The nation was gripped at this perfect storm of TV chaos – the pure definition of tragedy plus timing equals comedy – and is still to this day one of our favourite united moments in pop culture history.

Children interrupt BBC dad’s interview

Nearly 10 years on, it still just gets funnier.

In 2017, Robert Kelly appeared on BBC World to discuss South Korea but viewers got more than they bargained for when his young daughter gleefully burst into the room live on air.

Like a cartoon spoof, the situation kept unfolding for the better as his youngest toddler daughter wheeled herself in on a walker, prompting his mortified wife to come crashing in to pull them both out.

The hilarity was dissected for days and weeks with people noticing new elements each time.

The epitome of TV gold.

The Willy Wonka Experience

If you ever thought the classic film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sold you a dream, then the Willy Wonka Experience gave you a full-on nightmare.

After paying £35 for what they thought would be an ethereal fantasy, parents and their excited children arrived to find the most depressing sight imaginable in February 2024.

Instead they got a nightmare (Picture: Jenny Fogarty / SWNS)

A near-empty warehouse completely lacking in sweet treats or anything remotely ‘enchanting’, as was promised, and Oompa Loompas who were, quite frankly, terrifying.

It was so bad that the police were called.

Naturally, it instantly became the butt of internet jokes, and proved just how us Brits use humour to make the best out of an embarrassing situation.
