Katy Perry has allegedly been fined more than £5,000 after filming a music video in a protected area of Spain without permission.

The Dark Horse hitmaker, 40, shot footage in Ses Salines Natural Park on the Balearic Islands for her single, LIFETIMES, in July 2024.

After the shoot, she faced backlash from environmental campaigners who pointed out that she filmed scenes on the dune of s’Espalmador, a protected area of land.

The dune sits in an exclusion zone, where access is strictly prohibited to protect sensitive habitats and wildlife.

Investigators have since confirmed that the company filming the music video failed to obtain the required permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and the Natural Environment, making their filming unauthorised.

Perry and the crew were issued a fine of €6,001 (£5,197), per the Majorca Daily Bulletin, which has been paid.

Officials said that while Perry’s offence was ‘serious’, as there was no evidence of lasting damage, she would receive no additional penalties.

The natural park covers areas in Ibiza and Formentera as well as the sea between them.

It comes as the pop icon has faced intense scrutiny over her marriage to Orlando Bloom, with rumours suggesting it is on the rocks.

The pair began dating in 2016 and welcomed their daughter in 2020.

While neither Katy nor Orlando has explicitly commented on the reports themselves, their representatives have now issued a statement confirming their split.

They told Us Weekly: ‘Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.’

The statement continued: ‘They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is—and always will be—raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.’

The singer has been spotted on a cosy dinner date with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was later seen at her Montreal concert.

Earlier this year, Perry faced backlash after going into space as part of the all-female Blue Origin flight.

The other women on the flight included TV host and journalist Gayle King, NASA aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, research scientist Amanda Nguyen, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.

Video footage showed Katy holding a flower in tribute to her daughter, Daisy, and gazing into the camera while floating around the cabin. After landing on Earth, she held the daisy to the sky and then kissed the ground.
