Katy Perry is said to be totally unbothered by the criticism from American Idol viewers over her comments during season 21.

The Dark Horse singer, 38, has come under fire from fans for some of her judgements to the singing hopefuls this time around – including telling Nutsa Buzaladze that she should ‘have more grace’ following a spat with a fellow contestant.

She was also booed by an unimpressed crowd – for the first time in her five-year tenure – when she suggested that the budding musician should include less theatrics in her next performance.

Despite being hit with backlash in recent weeks, an insider claimed that the mom-of-one isn’t fussed about the reaction.

‘Katy isn’t fazed by the backlash,’ a source told PageSix. ‘This has been a rollercoaster season with a lot of great talent, so she is just doing her job.

‘She’s a mentor and a friend to the contestants.’

They also added that Katy ‘has a unique sense of humor that may not always translate well on camera, but she never has any ill intent.’

The Firework singer has served as a judge on the panel since 2018, alongside fellow music icons Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

There will be a brief shake-up for the next round of the competition as Katy and Lionel are jetting off to London to perform at King Charles III’s coronation.

They will be joining Take That, Olly Murs, Andrea Bocelli and many more at the star-studded party over the weekend.

The concert will be held on May 7, on the grounds of Windsor Castle with 20,000 in attendance.

Luke will be staying put to hold the fort, with Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette stepping in to fill the empty seats.

According to ABC, the pair will be temporarily joining the panel to judge the contestants and performing throughout their stint.

Alanis will also be mentoring the budding hopefuls, who will be covering some of her biggest hits in the round.

Luke previously teased the identities of their replacements in a previous chat with Entertainment Tonight.

‘It’s big time. It’s big time,’ he insisted. ‘The people that we have filling in, contestants have used their songs many, many times.

‘A lot more than mine!’
