Keanu Reeves has broken hearts around the world after sharing an update on a fifth John Wick movie.

The 60-year-old has played the iconic assassin in the action franchise for 10 years, with the titular movie hitting the big screen in 2014 – thanks to Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria.

However, after it was confirmed that another movie is in development, the Hollywood favorite revealed he is unsure whether his body could handle another outing.

During a recent appearance on CBS This Morning, to promote his efforts in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Keanu was questioned about his appearance in the Ballerina spin-off, and whether he would ever lead another John Wick movie.

‘You can never say never, but my knees right now are saying, “You can’t do another John Wick”,’ he told the host.

‘So, my heart does, but I don’t know if my knees can do it….’

The first John Wick movie was released a decade ago, and saw the retired hitman taking on a group of terrifying gangsters after they steal his dog.

The second flick came out three years later, while the third instalment of the franchise premiered in 2019.

In Chapter Four, which delighted fans last year, the ending appeared to show that the character had died in a very ambiguous scene.

However, director Chad Stahelski confirmed that there was actually another ending planned, which confirmed that he is definitely still alive.

‘We had a different ending,’ the filmmaker told Empire. ‘[The theatrical ending] was the ending Keanu and I wanted, but we shot a different ending.

‘We shot an ending where you actually saw John Wick at the end of the movie.

‘So it was very clear that he was still alive. The audiences we tested with absolutely preferred the ambiguous ending.’

Shedding light on a possible fifth movie last moth, producer Erica Lee insisted that the ‘stars have to align’ for all involved.

‘I think we set this bar so high in 4, and we left it all on the table,’ she told Screen Rant. ‘I say we burn the house down when we make the movie.

‘So I think to pull it all together, it has to be a great idea and the stars have to align, and there’s a lot of pressure to get that right.

‘So that’s what I’m most hopeful and excited and anxious about.’

Of John’s ‘death’, she teased: ‘I think that that’s subjective. Maybe there’s nothing in that grave. I’m a producer, so we’re hopeful for more.’
