The FBI has returned several valuable items stolen from Keanu Reeves’ Los Angeles home in a December 2023 jewelry heist. In a move typical of the world’s kindest actor, he’s thanked the government agency in the most wholesome way.
Items stolen from Reeves’ house included six valuable watches. One of those watches â a Rolex â had been worn by the actor in his role as John Wick in the popular action movie franchise of the same name.
In a press release on Tuesday, November 18, the FBI confirmed they had ensured the items were returned to Reeves, 61, while also sharing how he had shown his gratitude.
Keanu Reeves Penned a Handwritten Letter to the FBI
Keanu Reeves went to the effort of penning a handwritten letter to the FBI to thank them for their efforts.
The letter began, “It is with profound gratitude and appreciation that I am writing this letter,” and concluded, “Thank you so much for all your effort, dedication, professionalism and cross-border cooperation. My warmest regards, Keanu.”
The “cross-border” cooperation referenced is because the items were found in Chile and handed to the FBI by Chilean authorities. Said Chilean authorities confirmed that would be happening back in July.
In August, Reeves met with FBI personnel and a Chilean PDI Officer in New York to discuss his items’ return.
In returning the items to Reeves, the FBI ends a near-two year saga.
The Stolen Watches Are Worth a Combined $125,000
A police officer from Chile’s robbery investigation squad, Marcelo Varas, told the Associated Press (AP) that the watches stolen from Keanu Reeves’ home are valued at a total of $125,000. The engraved Rolex Submariner from the “John Wick” movies is worth $9,500.
Back in December 2024, CNN first reported that Reeves’ watches had resurfaced in Chile. The person arrested at the time was said to have been involved in a string of “violent robberies.” It’s not yet known if that person was ultimately directly responsible for the theft at Reeves’ home.
In the FBI’s press release, LAPD Chief of Police Jim McDonnell said of the recovery and return of Reeves’ items, “This case underscores how crime today knows no borders, and how vital our international partnerships are in bringing justice to victims here in Los Angeles.”
McDonnell continued, “The recovery of these stolen itemsâthanks to the outstanding collaboration between the PolicÃa de Investigaciones de Chile, the FBI, and our detectivesâsends a strong message that organized theft groups will be pursued wherever they operate. I am proud of the work our team has done alongside our federal and international partners to hold these criminal networks accountable.”
Nobody deserves to have their home invaded or their property stolen â certainly not someone as kind as Keanu Reeves. We’re delighted that he’s had his items returned to him. Moreover, we’re completely unsurprised that he wrote a letter of thanks, and hopeful that the perpetrators are served justice accordingly.
