‘Kill Bill’ is Returning to Movie Theaters with a Twist

Uma Thurman, Kill Bill

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most prolific filmmakers of all time. Among his most celebrated works is the “Kill Bill” franchise. Now, over 20 years later, it’s set to return to movie theaters. However, this time, it’s being released as “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair.”

According to Deadline, “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” is set to hit movie theaters on December 5. The twist is that this new version will include both of the movies. Additionally, it will feature a brand-new anime sequence.

This new version is significant because it marks one of the rare occasions where both films will be screened together. Naturally, this also means it will lack the much-talked-about cliffhanger between the two “Kill Bill” volumes.

Tarantino Intended for ‘Kill Bill’ to be Seen in This Way

The first movie was released in 2003, and the second volume followed in 2004. Tarantino has now reacted to the film being released as “Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair” and stated that this was his initial vision.

He said, “I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie.”

The famed director continued, “The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in Glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”

It’s unclear why the studio decided to cut it into two separate films. However, fans generally assume that this was the case because of the length. The first film comes in at almost two hours, and the second is even longer. Typically, longer movies don’t perform as well at the box office, and their length also reduces the number of showtimes at theaters.

This is One of the Most Beloved Film Franchises

Tarantino has directed nine feature-length films during his legendary career. “Kill Bill” ranks among his most beloved works. According to Box Office Mojo, the first film had a budget of $ 30 million. It reportedly earned $180 million worldwide, with $ 70.1 million from domestic movie theaters.

The second film had the same budget and made $152,159,000 worldwide. Its domestic total is $66,208,183. Box Office Mojo reports that both films had the same budget.

“Kill Bill” stars Uma Thurman, Vivica A. Fox, Lucy Liu, David Carradine, Michael Madsen, and Chiaki Kuriyama. Miramax Films produced it, and fans can stream both films on Netflix.
