Law & Order: SUV’s Mariska Hargitay Poses With Bio Dad & Siblings in RARE Photos

Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay

“Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay has given an eye-opening look into her life with her new documentary “My Mom Jayne.” The film focuses on her mother, Jayne Mansfield, who died in a car crash in 1967, but also reveals information about Hargitay’s childhood.

The film holds meaning for Mariska on multiple levels, due to its subject matter, as well as her role as director and producer. One of the highlights is that her biological father is not Mickey Hargitay, the man who raised her and whose last name she held. Mariska learned this information in her twenties, but she is now opening up about the impact it had on her identity.

“I’m not going to lie – it’s been quite a bumpy ride getting here. But it has paid off,” Mariska told USA Today in June. “I don’t have the words for what I’ve gone through, but I feel fortified. We all have things we’re scared to approach in our lives. But when you actually go through the door and shed light on it, beauty can come from the scariest place.”

Mickey played a vital role in Mariska’s life, and in an interview with USA Today, she credits him with being her “role model and mentor.” Mickey died on September 14, 2006, decades before the release of the film, but her biological father, Italian singer Nelson Sardelli, was in attendance to show his support.

Mariska’s siblings, Mickey Hargitay Jr., Jayne Marie Mansfield, Ellen Hargitay, and Zoltan Hargitay, have also shown their support and posed for a group picture.

Mariska Hargitay Recalls Learning of Her Paternity

Mariska has also discussed how she learned that Sardelli was her biological father after being shown a photo in the ‘90s. She recalls how she immediately recognised she was related to him.

“I felt like I was going to spontaneously combust,” Mariksa told USA Today of learning that Mickey was not her biological father. “I built my entire life and identity based on my father. But always knew that something wasn’t right. Like, why didn’t I have his nose? He had this beautiful Roman nose, and I have a little boxer nose. I always felt different.”
