Sam Moore, a legendary soul singer best known as half of Sam & Dave, has died age 89 at his home in Florida.
The singer was best known for some of his major hits in the 60s including Hold On, I’m Comin’, Soul Man, and Bring It On Home To Me.
The R&B duo Sam & Dave were together for 20 years from 1961 to 1981 and Moore went on to forge his own solo career.
The singer worked with some of the greats, includingBruce Springsteen, Don Henley, Elton John, Phil Collins, Lou Reed, and Mariah Carey, during his life.
The singer was also a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Jeremy Westby, the singer’s publicist confirmed his passing, informing the press that the star died on Friday, January 10.
It was confirmed that he died in Coral Gables, Florida, following complications after surgery.
