Love Island star Malin Andersson has revealed her car ‘blew up’ and caught on fire, seconds before she fled from it with her young daughter.
The TV star, who rose to fame on the ITV dating series in 2016, welcomed her daughter Xaya in 2022, separating from her child’s father just two weeks later.
The single mum now keeps fans updated on social media with snippets of her life with Xaya and of her podcast, Conscious Conversations, but took to Instagram on Monday to share a horrific experience.
She explained how she’d been driving along a dual carriageway when he car began to smoke, so she quickly ran out with Xaya, before it ‘blew up’.
The 32-year-old wrote: ‘This morning I was driving with Xaya and my car started smoking out of nowhere.
‘I took me Xaya out and ran down the side of the dual carriageway in time and it blew up and caught fire minutes later.’
Shocking pictures of the car saw it on fire in the middle of the road, and later showed it entirely burnt to a crisp.
The remains were all melted and black, and showed the bare shell of the car, with both the front seats and interior entirely destroyed.

Malin added that she was ‘in shock’ and would be taking some time away from social media, before reassuring fans that she and Xaya are ‘safe and sound’.
Malin previously had a daughter, Consy, who died in January 2019, just four weeks after being born seven weeks premature.
In April 2021, she revealed she had suffered a devastating miscarriage, and said she wanted to be ‘transparent about taboo subjects’ and shed light on her own experience to raise awareness.
After the tragic death of Consy, who died after Malin lost both her parents to cancer, the star told Metro about using the pain to empower herself.

She said: ‘Everyone deals with different things in their life. Everyone goes through stuff, but it’s how you process it and deal with it that matters the most.
‘You can either let it consume you, or you could just let it evolve you as a person and use it as a kind of strength.
‘When you suffer stuff or loss. If you let it kind of define who you are, it will eat you up. So it’s best to let it make you a better person.’
Since her stint on Love Island, Malin has become an advocate for body positivity, showing her ‘real self’ on social media, and being praised for doing so.

‘If one person needs to see it, I’ve helped one person,’ she continued. ‘The world that we live in today is full of airbrushed images, size expectations.
‘It’s refreshing for people to see and I can honestly tell you I get a thousand messages every few days off people saying I’m inspirational, they’re sharing their stories with me.
‘It is so heartwarming for me to read that. And that spurs me on to do more. We know what the game is with social media.
‘It’s a dark world, it can be a really dark world, and if there is a bit of light somewhere, it can help somebody so it makes me feel better inside, it fulfils me.’
