Former NFL quarterback and FOX Sports analyst Mark Sanchez is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed in Indianapolis, according to multiple reports. The 38-year-old was in Indiana ahead of Sunday’s NFL game between the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders when the attack occurred on Friday, October 3, TMZ reported. Sanchez was rushed to a nearby hospital and was initially listed in critical condition.

Police responded to a call shortly after midnight about two people injured at the scene. Details about what led to the stabbing remain under investigation. TMZ Sports was the first to report that Sanchez was injured during a stabbing incident early Saturday morning.


FOX Sports Confirms Sanchez Is in Stable Condition

FOX Sports confirmed the incident in a statement shared with FOX59/CBS4, expressing gratitude for the care Sanchez received.

“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” the network said.

“We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has not yet provided further details about the suspects or motive. Authorities have opened an active investigation into the stabbing. According to reports, Sanchez had been in Indianapolis to call Sunday’s FOX Sports broadcast of the Colts vs. Raiders game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The incident reportedly took place the night before his scheduled appearance, leaving fans and sports colleagues shocked.
