Matty Healy and fiancée ramp up the PDA with steamy snog on streets of Sydney

The 1975 star Matty Healy didn’t seem to care who was watching as he passionately locked lips with his fiancée on the streets of Sydney, Australia.

Matty stepped out for date night Down Under with his wife-to-be, US actress, model, and influencer Gabbriette Bechtel.

The songwriter and Gabbriette were spotted enjoying an outing on a dinner date in the upmarket suburb of Surry Hills before putting on an amorous display, leaving passersby to gawp.

Matty, who famously enjoyed a brief yet high-profile romance with Taylor Swift, was captured passionately snogging his other half, arms wrapped around one another in the middle of a bustling street.

The Chocolate hitmaker, 35, and his fiancée, 26, were ever the stylish couple in matching outfits, as Gabbriette sported a sleeveless black midi dress, which she teamed with leather knee-high boots.

Gabbriette, who is in Aus to film the remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer, added an oversized designer handbag to her chic look, while her blonde locks were slicked back into a bun.

Also on display were her toned arms and extensive tattoo collection, which includes stars on her hand, a devil on her shoulder, and a spider web on her wrist.

Meanwhile, Brit Award winner Matty kept it casual in jeans and a washed-out denim shirt, his unruly tresses styled in their famous curls.

As the hot pair clambered into a waiting car following their night out, they smooched and cuddled before Matty chivalrously held open the door.

While Gabbriette got inside, her Robbers hitmaker fiancé couldn’t resist a cheeky tap on her bum.

Matty and Gabbriette were first linked in September 2023 after he reportedly split from Grammy-winning pop star Taylor, 34, in June that year.

Since making things official, the lovebirds haven’t been shy about flaunting their romance, having made several public appearances together, including during Fashion Week.

Gabbriette has also attended many of Matty’s concerts, cheering him on alongside bandmates and best pals Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald, and George Daniel.

She’s also got plenty of experience in performing herself, having been the lead vocalist for Nasty Cherry, a punk rock band curated by Charli XCX in 2018.

Of course, Apple hitmaker Charli is now engaged to The 1975 drummer George, so we can only imagine what a hoot it is on their tour bus.

In June this year, Matty’s mother, Denise Welch, confirmed that her son had popped the question to Gabbriette.

Appearing on Loose Women, she said of the engagement that she’s ‘obviously known for a few weeks.’

‘I couldn’t be more thrilled,’ she continued.

‘[Gabbriette’s] from LA; she’s absolutely gorgeous; she does have a rat.

‘We couldn’t be happier. She is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law.’

A photo of Welch holding a rat and posing with her soon-to-be daughter-in-law appeared then on screen, and she told her co-hosts the rat’s name is Splinter.

Despite social media users having plenty to say about her relationship with Matty, Gabbriette has made it perfectly clear that she’s not interested in the commentary of trolls.

Addressing criticism, she previously told HighSnobiety: ‘I don’t give a s**t. I think it’s hilarious. Go for it. Have fun. People have a lot to say. You don’t know me at all.’
