Meghan Markle Hurt by Latest Beyoncé Snub as She and Prince Harry Question Move Back to UK

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are living in the U.K. again nearly six years after they stepped down from their roles within the royal family. Despite <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/psychics-prediction-prince-harry-meghans-final-pay-u-k-return-duke-sees-american-dream-failure.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>moving back and reports that the duke is hoping to repair his relationship with his father, King Charles, the Sussexes are not returning to royal duties or working on behalf of the Crown.

The couple, who remain private citizens, are living in the Cotswolds, an exclusive area in Southern England where several other high-profile stars live, including Hugh Grant, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, and David and <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/meghan-markle-desperate-repair-friendship-victoria-beckham.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Victoria Beckham.

While it remains to be seen if Harry and Meghan will be hosting tea parties with any of their A-list neighbors, the duchess reportedly wanted to meet up with another megastar from the U.S. while they were in the U.K. recently.

Beyoncé and Jay Z were in London last weekend for <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/rappers/?swcfpc=1″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>the rapper‘s concert at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The pair also stepped out in the city to celebrate Bey’s 45th birthday, but did not reach out to Meghan while they were in the country.

A source told <a href=”https://robshuter.substack.com/p/exclusive-meghan-markle-hurt-after” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Naughty But Nice‘s Rob Shuter that “Meghan didn’t expect Beyoncé to roll out a red carpet. But she absolutely assumed they would have tea, lunch, or spend some private time together. When nothing happened, it stung.

“Meghan believed their connection had moved beyond Hollywood niceties,” says the source. “She thought Beyoncé was someone she could consider a genuine friend. Being in the same country and not seeing each other forced Meghan to question that … That’s what hurt.”

The insider added that <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/meghan-markle-getting-residual-checks-suits-surprise-streaming-success.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>the Suits alum did not attend Jay Z’s show because “Meghan didn’t want another Beyoncé concert. She wanted Beyoncé.”

This news comes at the same time <a href=”https://robshuter.substack.com/p/exclusive-prince-william-pushed-king” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Shuter is reporting that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have begun to question their move back to Britain and believe Prince William was behind the king’s letter.

That letter, sent on Sept. 7 to government departments, military officials, and Lord Lieutenants, made Meghan and Harry’s status as non-working royals crystal clear, stating that they will still not be able to use titles of “His and Her Royal Highness.”

Shuter was told that the Prince of Wales pushed for King Charles to issue the letter, saying, “William had had enough of the confusion. Lord Lieutenancies were asking how Harry and Meghan should be treated. William’s answer was brutally simple: nothing has changed. They are out,” and now the Sussexes are “starting to question whether this return can work.

“Their team received the message shortly before the rest of the world. There was no negotiation. They were informed. That was the moment they realized they had underestimated William’s power. William can close doors faster than they expected. William has won, for now.”

According to the monarch’s official letter, “[Harry and Meghan’s] styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used. The charitable work of the duke and duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.

“Any specific questions from official and state organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the duke and duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant police authorities.”
