Michael J. Fox is one of the most endearing actors thanks to roles in works such as “Back to the Future,” “The Frighteners,” and “Spin City.” Now, as he’s set to appear in season three of Apple TV’s “Shrinking,” he’s opening up about his strong bond with his wife, Tracy Pollan.
Fox told PEOPLE of his relationship with Pollan, “Sheâs my best friend, my partner. Tracyâs the first person I check in with and the last person I check in with.”
The beloved actor has been married to Pollan since 1988. Now, they have four adult children, with the oldest being 36 and the youngest being 23. Nelle Fortenberry, Fox’s longtime collaborator and co-writer of his new book, also spoke about Pollan.
Fortenberry said, “She’s really invested in the work we’re doing. It’s great to have Tracy’s commitment.”
Fox’s New Book Hits Stores in October
Fox has published six books so far. They include “Meet in the Future: A Memoir of Michael Fox,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future,” and “Lucky Man.” Now, he’s set to publish his latest, “Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum,” on October 14.
His new book is a behind-the-scenes look at his life from when he filmed “Back to the Future” and Family Ties.” As fans are aware, he filmed both the movie and the television show simultaneously.
Fox spoke to PEOPLE about the reasoning behind writing the new book. He said, “People really love the movie. I wanted to sincerely fulfill their wish to know more about the experience.”
Fox Is Also Returning to Acting in Apple TV’s ‘Shrinking’
Fox filmed an arc on season three of Apple TV’s “Shrinking” during the summer of 2025. The premiere date for the show on the streaming platform is unclear, but it’s expected to be in late 2025. “Shrinking” stars Jason Segel, Jessica Williams, Harrison Ford, and Michael Urie.
Fox is playing a character on the show who, like him, has Parkinson’s. It’s also notable that Ford’s character on the show is also learning to manage the condition. Ford spoke to Variety about Fox appearing on the upcoming season of “Shrinking.”
He said, “[Fox] gives me both a physical representation of the disease to inform myself with, but more than that, he allows me to believe that Paul could believe that he could be adequate to the challenge.” Fox also called Fox’s appearance on the series “essential.”
