The actor took to Threads to share a message with fans who had grown concerned. “How do you react when you turn on the TV, and CNN is reporting your death?” Fox asked his followers.

“Do you…A) switch to MNSBC, or whatever they are calling themselves these days, (B) Pour scolding hot water on your lap, if it hurts your fine, (C) Call your wife, hopefully she’s concerned but reassuring, (D) Relax, they do this once every year, (E) Ask yourself [Expletive]? I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me, and I’m ok. Love, Mike.”

CNN Addresses Error After Confusion With an Apology

The confusion began when CNN mistakenly published a video package titled “Remembering the life of actor Michael J. Fox,” even though there were no confirmed reports of his passing.

The segment was taken down shortly after, and the network moved quickly to address the error.

“The package was published in error; we have removed it from our platforms and send our apologies to Michael J. Fox and his family,” a spokesperson said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

Recent Appearance Brings Reassurance to Fans

A day earlier, Michael J. Fox had stepped out for a rare public appearance at PaleyFest in Los Angeles, where he joined the cast of “Shrinking” to celebrate the show’s third season.

Fox, who appears in the series alongside Harrison Ford, greeted fans and joined the conversation, drawing a warm response from the audience.

During the event, creator Bill Lawrence expressed interest in continuing Fox’s involvement, with Fox telling the crowd, “I would love to do it – it would be my honor.”

Continuing His Work While Living With Parkinson’s

“Shrinking” marks one of Michael J. Fox’s rare returns to acting since stepping back from full-time work in 2020, a decision shaped by the realities of living with Parkinson’s disease.

He has previously shared that the condition made the physical and mental demands of filming more difficult, especially stamina and line memorization.

Even so, being back on set brought a sense of comfort and freedom.

“It was the first time ever I get to show up on-set, and I didn’t have to worry about am I too tired or coughing or anything,” Fox told People in October 2025.

“I just do it. It was really good, because for the moments when I say, ‘I’m not going to be able to do this,’ then I say, ‘Well, I’ll just deal with how I can’t do it in the scene.’ And you get through it.”

With his honesty and quiet humor, Fox continues to connect with audiences, offering a reminder of the strength and grace that have long defined his journey.
