Michelle Pfeiffer is embracing a new chapter in her life as she enters her grandma era. The “French Exit” actress is a grandmother to her daughter Claudia Rose’s child, and her granddaughter was born last year. She also has an adult son, John, and shares both her children with her husband, David E. Kelley.

In a recent interview, Pfeiffer opened up about what it means to be a grandma and how it is impacting her life and her Christmas celebrations.

Michelle Pfeiffer Discusses Becoming a Grandmother

In a new interview with USA Today published on Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 27, Pfeiffer discussed how she was looking forward to Christmas with her grandchild. “This year, she’ll be 22 months, and she’ll be more aware of what’s going on. Still maybe a little on the young side, probably,” she said.

She continued, “The extravaganza of the whole thing might be a bit overwhelming. You always have to watch out for that. But you forget what it’s like watching them experience every little thing as discovery. And that look of wonderment they just have all the time. I love being able to experience that, so that’ll be really fun.”

Fans will be able to celebrate the Christmas cheer with Pfeiffer, too, when they watch her new Amazon Prime movie, “Oh. What. Fun.” It is available to stream on December 3.

Michelle Pfeiffer’s Grandchild Is Changing Her Life

Becoming a grandmother has changed Pfeiffer, as she revealed in her interview that she struggled being away from her granddaughter during filming. She told USA Today she was “dying” and “pining for her,” and that she would use every break in filming she could to fly back to New York to see her.

She continued, “It made me really want to experience her. I really want to be there and watch her grow up. And so it’s made me want to work less. It’s made me want to slow down a little bit and really, really take it in.”

This is a statement she made before in a September interview on the “Smartless” podcast. “I don’t have time nor the desire to go that deep for that long and not be present. I realize I have a finite amount of time left and — I might announce on this show — that I became a grandmother last year,” she said of spending time with her granddaughter, People reports. “I’ve been very quiet about it and it is — it’s heaven. It’s ridiculous.”
