‘Mission: Impossible’ Star Passes Away at 91 & Tributes Pour In

May Britt

May Britt, the Swedish actress known for both her screen work and her marriage to legendary entertainer Sammy Davis Jr., has died at the age of 91.

Her family confirmed her passing on December 18, 2025, marking the end of a life that bridged international cinema and one of the most iconic show-business relationships of the 20th century.

Her son, Mark Davis, confirmed the sad news to The Hollywood Reporter. She passed away on December 11 of natural causes.

Britt’s Impressive Career

Born May Britt Wilkens on March 22, 1934, in Stockholm, Sweden, Britt began her acting career in European films before making the leap to Hollywood in the 1950s.

She appeared in a range of genres, from dramas to comedies, bringing a distinctive presence and range that drew attention during a time when international actors were beginning to make their mark in American cinema.

Britt’s film credits included roles in “The Blue Angel” and “Murder, Inc.,” among others. She also played Eva in the original “Mission: Impossible” TV series.

Her early work established her as a promising talent during Hollywood’s golden era of international casting, but it was her personal life that later captured the public’s fascination.

Britt’s Marriage to Sammy Davis Jr.

In 1960, Britt married Sammy Davis Jr., one of the most dynamic performers of his generation.

Their union was widely reported and sometimes controversial, given the era’s racial tensions — Davis was Black and Britt was white — and the interracial marriage was a bold declaration of love at a time when such unions still faced intense scrutiny.

Together, they had three children: biological daughter, Tracey Davis, and two adopted sons, Mark Davis and Jeff Davis.

Though her own acting career slowed after marriage, Britt remained part of the entertainment world through her life with Davis.

Their marriage lasted until 1968, when they divorced but remained connected through their shared children and mutual respect.

Davis continued to make history in music, film and television; Britt’s role in his personal and professional journey has since been acknowledged as part of that legacy.

Following the divorce, Britt stepped back from Hollywood and embraced a quieter life focused on family and privacy.

Despite the shift away from acting, her legacy endures through her contributions to film and her place in cultural history as part of one of the most influential entertainment families of the 20th century.

Friends and family remember Britt for her grace, warmth and quiet courage — particularly in navigating life under public scrutiny during a time of significant social change, according to The Guardian.
