Modern Warfare 4 devs vow to fix Captain Price’s hair after ‘halfprice’ jokes

Paid the price

Captain Price’s scraggly haircut from the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta has gone viral, but Activision has vowed to give him a glow-up.

The first beta for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was tepid at best, but it wasn’t the poor campaign mission or absence of omnimovement which caught some people’s attention.

Modern Warfare 4’s early access beta concluded after four days on Tuesday, August 25, and developer Infinity Ward addressed issues around the time-to-kill and map spawns during its duration. However, one issue has proven particularly hairy.

If you’ve ever wondered what protagonist Captain John Price would look like fresh from the bath, or if he laid off the regrowth shampoo, the beta had the answer for you.

Price’s bleak hairline went viral on social media during the beta, with many describing him as ‘Captain Value’ and ‘Captain Discounted Price’.

Even Captain Price’s voice and motion capture actor, Barry Sloane, had a pop on Instagram, writing: ‘Hi, my name is… John Halfprice.’

If you played the beta and didn’t notice Price’s dissipated locks, it’s because this haircut only showed up when playing Modern Warfare 4 on the lowest settings. However, Infinity Ward has vowed to give the Task 141 leader an appointment with the in-game barbers.

In response to the mockery, the Call Of Duty community management account on X wrote: ‘Hello! We’re aware of an issue with Price’s hair not appearing correctly when viewed at the lowest level of detail. The team will be addressing it in a future update.

‘Ultimately this will not be an issue if players meet our recommended specs.’

On Infinity Ward’s Trello board of known issues, Captain Price’s hair has still not been fixed, and is currently under the ‘investigating’ label.

It’s currently unknown when Price will be restored to his formidable gruff, but an open beta is set to kick off Friday, August 28 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and for the first time, the Nintendo Switch 2. So hopefully Price will get dolled up by then.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch worldwide on October 23, 2026.
