Morrissey has left fans seething after cancelling yet another string of shows.
The English singer – full name Steven Patrick Morrissey – rose to prominence as the frontman of the Smiths, who eventually split in 1987.
In the years since he’s gone on to carve out successful solo career, releasing 14 albums and being nominated for a Grammy and two Brit Awards.
However, he’s also developed a reputation for cancelling shows – citing reasons including death threats, illness, bad weather and poor ticket sales.
Earlier this year he even came under fire from his supporters, who said he was ‘making excuses’ after pulling the plug on shows in Scandinavia due to a ‘lack of financial support’ and being ‘travel-weary’.
A few months on, the 66-year-old has now quietly scrapped an entire tour.
The musician had been due to play shows between November 8 and 22 in the South American cities of Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Santiago, and Lima.
However ticketing sites and concert promoters for the South American leg of his Nude tour have announced all scheduled gigs are no longer going ahead.
Earlier this week, an announcement shared on Instagram read: ‘We are informing the public in Mexico City and Guadalajara that, due to the artist’s extreme exhaustion, Morrissey’s concerts scheduled for October 31st at the Palacio de los Deportes and November 4th at the Auditorio Telmex have been cancelled.’
A few days on, promoters in other countries have also now confirmed their shows have been cancelled.
‘We inform the public that, due to extreme exhaustion of the artist, Morrissey’s tour of Latin America will not take place, including the show scheduled for November 8th at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires,’ the concert venue Movistar Arena shared on social media.
Unsurprisingly many fans have been left incredibly frustrated.
Commenting on one of the posts, one fan declared: ‘Morrissey wondering why he didn’t sell so many tickets! Because we’re used to you sh***ing on the fans @morrisseyofficial That’s why many of us weren’t going to go out until the last minute, to save ourselves the annoyance.’
‘This old man always does the same thing,’ another commented.
‘We’re not even surprised anymore I swear LOL,’ another added.
Morrissey is yet to officially announce the cancellation of his South American tour on his website or social media accounts.
However, after the shows in Mexico were pulled, he simply wrote on his website that ‘I know it’s gonna happen someday’ alongside several emojis of the Mexican flag.
His fans in that country were particularly enraged after he’s cancelled his last three tours there.
‘This was the last time I ever buy tickets for a Morrissey show. 3 times in a row you’ve cancelled in Mexico,’ Robie commented on Instagram.
‘Do you seriously feel nothing for your fans? Cancel them a few hours before your concert, once again, in Mexico, don’t you really feel anything?’ Robb shared.
‘You should return all of the money that your Mexican fans spent on travelling to see you. It’s sad that you have no understanding of the commitments people make to see you, more commitment than you make to performing for them,’ Kerri Anne added.

He’s next scheduled to play in the UK at a show in London on February 28.
This year alone Morrissey has cancelled a whopping 22 shows.

The scrapping of his Scandinavian shows happened in June, while in May he cancelled two shows in Los Angeles after being hospitalised for a ‘severe sinusitis attack’.
In January he’d also pulled out of two shows in South Carolina, with his tour manager then revealing it was due to ‘physical exhaustion’.
Other shows in cities including Istanbul, Belgrade, Bucharest and Madrid also never went ahead.
