Former Smiths frontman turned solo artist Morrissey has cancelled his upcoming Las Vegas residency just a few days before the first show.
Morrissey was due to play for four nights at the Wynn Las Vegas starting on August 14.
The 66-year-old singer’s team has announced that the shows will not go ahead due to ‘unforeseen logistical challenges’ and the dates were removed from his website.
According to Consequence, who broke the news, the rest of Morrissey’s scheduled tour remains on the calendar.
The news came as a bitter disappointment to fans who made their displeasure known on Instagram.
‘Ahhhh absolutely gutted,’ wrote 1912msw. ‘This was gonna be one of the BEST weeks.’
Meanwhile real_brian_finn asked: ‘Unforeseen Logistical Challenges??? It’s over two weeks between Portugal & Las Vegas how hard can it be??’
‘Three times I have had tickets to see Morrissey,’ complained allfiveyarns ‘And three times he has canceled.’
This isn’t the first time Morrissey has cancelled a show at short notice.
In March this year, he cancelled a show in Valencia, at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, because he was sleep-deprived.
‘Having travelled for two days by road, Morrissey reached the hotel in Valencia late on Wednesday,’ a message read on his website.
‘Any form of sleep or rest throughout the night was impossible due to festival noise/ loud techno singing/ megaphone announcements.’
‘This experience has left Morrissey in a catatonic state. Before leaving for tonight’s scheduled concert, please check that the show remains possible under these circumstances.’
The website was later updated to confirm that he would not be performing due to the noise in Valencia preventing him from resting.
Metro understood at the time that the singer received a death threat before a show he performed in Ottawa at the CityFolk Festival last week.
‘On Friday, September 12, Ottawa Police Service charged a 26-year-old Ottawa resident with uttering threats related to an online threat against musical artist Morrissey ahead of his CityFolk performance,’ Ottawa Police Department said in a statement provided to Metro.
‘The threat was reported to police by a member of the public. The investigation is ongoing.’
Morrissey cancelled 22 of his scheduled concerts in 2025.
