
During Phishâs three-night run at Hampton Coliseum in Virginia, tragedy struck when a stabbing outside the venue left one person dead and two others injured. The band later expressed deep sadness, sending love and support to those affected.
Tragic Stabbing Reported Outside Phish Show
According to local outlet WTKR, the violence began around 9:30 p.m. near an unofficial merchandise booth when an argument escalated into a large altercation. Police confirmed that three people were injured. One victim was transported to the hospital and later died of their injuries. A second individual was hospitalized, while a third adult male walked into a hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening laceration.
Police Call Incident ‘Isolated’ After Altercation
The Hampton Police Division said all parties involved have been identified. A person of interest fled the scene but was later apprehended nearby. Authorities have described the stabbing as an âisolated incidentâ and confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with officers interviewing witnesses.
Phish Shares Heartfelt Statement After the Tragedy
Following the show, Phish addressed the tragedy in a statement shared on Instagram. âDuring last nightâs show, a tragic incident took place in the parking lot outside Hampton Coliseum. There was an altercation behind one of the tents in the unofficial vending area in which someone lost their life and two other people were injured. We donât have more information than what has been reported by the police, who called it an isolated incident, but what we do know is upsetting enough. We are deeply saddened by this and our hearts go out to all of those affected,â the band wrote.

Concerts Continue With Increased Police Presence
Despite the tragedy, Phishâs shows at Hampton Coliseum continued over the weekend, with Saturdayâs concert going on as scheduled and an increased police presence on site. The summer run concludes Sunday night.
The incident comes as Phish prepares for more tour stops in Denver, Cincinnati and Detroit later this year, followed by a New Yearâs Eve run at Madison Square Garden. In early 2026, the band is also set for a four-night series at Moon Palace Cancun in Mexico.
