Netflix Bids Farewell to Stars Hollow: Where to Watch ‘Gilmore Girls’ Now

Much of the country might be in the midst of a summer heat wave, but Gilmore Girls fans with a Netflix subscription are already mourning an autumn that will have to carry on without a return to Stars Hollow. That would make for a pretty sad fall, but it only has to happen if subscribers don’t sign up for another streaming service by September. While it’s true that Gilmore Girls has left the Netflix catalogue, it does have some other streaming homes.

‘Gilmore Girls’ is officially gone from Netflix

In 2014, Netflix obtained the rights to stream Gilmore Girls. The addition was not met with much fanfare initially, but since then the series has grown in popularity and morphed into something of a Netflix tradition. Experts, critics, and even cast members have discussed how Netflix helped the show reach a new audience and far surpass the popularity of its original run.

The 2016 revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, a four-part special, helped cement the series as an important part of Netflix’s rotation. Things stayed that way for years, with fans flocking to the show for a rewatch season after season, catapulting the series back into the Top 10 time and time again. All good things must come to an end, though. Several months back, reports began to surface that Netflix’s licensing agreement for the series was set to expire. As July crept closer, Netflix failed to add its famously sad “Leaving Soon” banner to the show’s page, causing a stir. Some experts theorized that Netflix was fighting to keep the series on its platform. It was not a fruitful fight. Netflix and Warner Bros. could not reach an agreement, and Gilmore Girls no longer lives on Netflix, according to <a href=”https://deadline.com/2026/07/gilmore-girls-leaves-netflix-streams-on-prime-video-1236972641/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Deadline.

You Can Still Watch It, Though

The show’s removal from Netflix is sad news for fans, but there is some good news to be had. The series already has a few other homes for fans to migrate to. Since December 2024, Gilmore Girls has been available on Disney+ and Hulu. The move was big news at the time, and the series appears to be staying put on both platforms for now.

Amazon Prime Video has also gained the streaming rights once again; the show had a brief run there in 2025 before this latest deal. Gilmore Girls landed on the platform on July 1, just as it went dark on Netflix. While the original series is now available on multiple platforms, the revival is not. A Year in the Life continues to live on Netflix, as it’s a Netflix original, at least for now. It’s unclear whether or where it might move.

What It’ll Cost You

The good news for wallets is that most of these are services fans may already have. On Amazon, the show streams with a Prime membership ($14.99 per month or $139.99 per year), or through a Prime Video–only plan for $8.99 per month. Hulu plans start at $11.99 per month. And because Disney+ carries the series through its Disney-owned sibling, you can also watch it via the Hulu–Disney+ bundle, which likewise starts around $11.99 per month. Any one of them keeps Stars Hollow a click away.

For now, though, Gilmore Girls fans can rest easy. Their favorite Connecticut town is still streaming; they just need to make the jump before the leaves start to turn.
