It’s now autumn, which means that ‘Netflix and chill’ season has officially arrived.

To help kick off the snuggliest time of year, we’ve hand-picked six shows that are coming back this October that will satisfy your binge-watch cravings, one of which is the second season of a swoon-worthy Netflix rom-com.

Nobody Wants This follows a somewhat unusual love story which blossoms between rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) and sex podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell).

Set in California, the show follows the pair as they navigate the challenges of a relationship combining two different faiths, backgrounds and sets of ambitions. In order for Noah to become head rabbi as he desires, he must be with somebody Jewish, putting their relationship in a difficult spot.

Ratings were high for season 1, with 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.8/10 on IMDb.

Now season two is back, and so is the sizzling tension between the two leads.

From Nobody Wants This to The Witcher, here are six TV shows coming back this month that you won’t want to miss.

Nobody Wants This

The trailer for Nobody Wants This season two opens with an intensely intimate conversation about… stationery, proving their spark is irrefutable.

But it doesn’t take long before we see the difficulties Noah and Joanne are coming up against.

The couple are still working out the religious aspect of their union, with Bell’s character claiming to friends and family they’ll ‘do the whole interfaith thing’, which is met with an awkward and uncertain response from Brody.

Joanne continues to struggle with some of the realities associated with her prospective future, including ‘no Santa’ for potential kids, and a consistently difficult relationship with mother-in-law, Bina (Tovah Feldshuh).

Returning characters include Jackie Tohn as Noah’s sister-in-law, Esther Roklov, Timothy Simons as brother Sasha, and Justine Lupe from Succession as Joanne’s sister Morgan.

Fans of the show were also pleased with some of the new faces set to appear in the second series, including Leighton Meester, Adam Brody’s real-life wife. The Gossip Girl star will play Abby, Joanne’s former middle school nemesis turned Instagram momfluencer.

X user, @beccamillerr, wrote: ‘Loving this decision, it was very much overdue.’

Additional cast members include Seth Rogen, Kate Berlant, Succession actor Arian Moayed and Girls star Alex Karpovsky.

The story of Nobody Wants This mirrors the real-life experiences of the show’s creator Erin Foster, as the show is partly based on her personal experience of ‘falling for a nice Jewish boy’. The first time they hung out, Foster told the Los Angeles Times that he’d said: ‘“Whoever I marry, she has to be Jewish”’.

Whether Joanne and Noah’s relationship will transpire to be as successful as Erin Foster and her partner Simon Tikhman’s is yet to be confirmed, but doubt creeps in at the end of the Nobody Wants This trailer as Brody’s character asks Bell’s: ‘Are we doomed?’

Nobody Wants This season two premieres on October 23 on Netflix.

The Witcher

Fantasy drama, The Witcher, is back on Netflix for its fourth season, following the stories of Geralt of Rivia.

The monster hunter, with his supernatural abilities, has been played by British actor Henry Cavill up until this series.

Liam Hemsworth will take on the role in a move he said ‘came out of nowhere’. He told Entertainment Weekly: ‘I was as surprised as anyone’.

After Cavill’s exit was announced in 2022, some fans threatened to boycott the show as they didn’t feel Hemsworth was a worthy replacement. However, others remained optimistic about the casting, urging viewers to give The Hunger Games actor a chance.

@supermormongirl said on X: ‘We shall give him a chance when we hear his speaking voice and see his acting skills on The Witcher’.

Netflix’s long-awaited teaser shows Hemsworth battling a forceful and ghostly spirit, at first with his sword, and then with his special Witcher magic that helps him defeat the creature.

Showrunner, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, told Netflix’s: ‘One of the things we always say is that it wouldn’t be The Witcher if everything ended happily’.

The penultimate season will likely feature turmoil, but it’s nothing that fans aren’t used to. X user, @itsnotadann summed it up, saying: ‘Being a fan of The Witcher means knowing that someone somewhere is crying over it at the same time as you and I think that’s comforting.’

The Witcher season four premieres on October 30 on Netflix.

Love is Blind US

Coming in hot is season nine of Netflix’s Love is Blind US, which is set this time in Denver, Colorado.

Similarly to last season, there’ll be 14 episodes in total, including the reunion episode, with the weddings featuring in episode 13.

This season features another array of characters who are on the show for a variety of reasons. One contestant, Madison, has a ‘blinding eye condition’, meaning that there’s a ‘good chance’ she will go blind at some point in her life.

Despite the location of the American series, UK-born Dayo has made it into the line-up. Will his British accent help him stand out and make an impression from the pods?

Grey’s Anatomy

Fancy another one? Well, it’s here. Season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy is coming soon and the medical drama brings more, you guessed it, drama.

Season 21 ended with the Grey Sloan hospital in flames and left viewers questioning the fate of several of the show’s doctors.

Showrunner, Meg Marinis, admitted to Entertainment Weekly she initially thought she knew what happened in the outcome of the explosion. She added: ‘But I wanted to wait until my writers were back, so that people could also fight and argue with me.’

The recently released trailer doesn’t confirm who survived, but shows a distressed Jo demanding answers about her boyfriend, Dr. Atticus Lincoln, a.k.a. Link.

Fans of the show want justice for Jo, @Shandeigh_D on X said: ‘If Link is dead. We riot. Jo deserves better.’

Grey’s Anatomy season 22 premieres on Friday 10th October on Disney Plus.

The Diplomat

If all of the above doesn’t sound dramatic enough, The Diplomat season 3 is sure to provide some tension.

The critically acclaimed Netflix series is back again for what promises to be some serious action as season 3 kicks off with the aftermath of the death of President Rayburn (Michael McKean).

The start of the series follows what happens when a president dies, as the cast try to determine the circumstances around it.

Returning faces include Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell as diplomats Kate and Hal Wyler. Allison Janney will come back as President Grace Penn, and Rory Kinnear as British Prime Minister, Nicol Trowbridge.

In the trailer we see Kate and Hal despairing over the knowledge they know about the new President Penn: ‘A terribly flawed woman is now the president, and only we know just how flawed,’.

Fans on X are looking forward to its imminent release. One user, @OwlExpress_ wrote: ‘Omfg literal chills’ in response to the trailer, and @pandavishnu08 said: ‘Can’t wait, this show always keeps me on edge’.

The Diplomat season three premieres on October 16 on Netflix.
