Suits, which starred Meghan Markle, had a resurgence when it appeared on Netflix and its renewed popularity has led to a pilot, which could become a series.

The people have spoken with their remotes by watching 57.7 billion minutes of Suits on the subscription service last year (extra impressive as it only arrived in June), and the bigwigs at NBC Universal have listened.

The planned production titled Suits: LA is set to begin production next month and will once again be filmed in Canada despite the title. The original series, which ran from 2011-2019, was based in New York but filmed in Toronto, so they are good at doing a little TV trickery.

This time it will be centred around former federal prosecutor from New York, Ted Black, who ‘has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.’

‘His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,’ the description continues.

‘Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.’

NBC is yet to release details on casting, but it sounds like we’re going to meet some new faces.

If it does get picked up for a series, then perhaps the Duchess of Sussex could pop back for a cameo, but we think she’s a little busy these days! Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’re probably aware that the actress’ life drastically changed when she fell in love with Prince Harry, eventually marrying him in 2018.

In the first seven seasons, the 42-year-old played ambitious paralegal Rachel Zane and was joined by Gabriel Macht as Harvey Spector, Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen, Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson, and Patrick J. Adams as Mike Ross in the show set at a prestigious Manhattan law firm.

The show did a total of nine seasons before they bowed out, but Patrick, 42, whose character married Rachel is up for a few more.

‘If I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again. I love the show, I love the character. And I loved working with all these people,’ he previously said.

When asked if Meghan could return, he said: ‘Sure. Mike and Rachel in Seattle. They gotta come down to LA, they gotta fix some stuff.’

‘She’s pretty popular right now. Did you hear about Meghan? I’ll tell you later,’ he joked.

Creator Aaron Korsh is back as a writer for the show set in the Suits universe but featuring new characters in a fresh location, after previously admitting even he underestimated the popularity it would gain.

Following the spike in interest he wrote on X, ‘I always thought we were underestimated, but it turns out, even I underestimated #Suits. It’s good to be the King.’
