Netflix series Selling Sunset has reportedly axed five major cast members ahead of filming for the new season.

After nine seasons, countless shocking fallouts and even more shocking office drama, Selling Sunset has proved itself the feistiest and most addictive real estate show around.

Set in the glamorous world of high-end Los Angeles property, the show has birthed absolute icons of reality TV, like Chrishell Stause and the villainous Christine Quinn.

This is a show in which the stakes are high and the property prices even higher…

But after 90 episodes of tense television that has reeled viewers in (sometimes against their will), the show is undergoing a massive shakeup with five familiar faces being shown the door.

Emma Hernan (joined season four), original cast member Mary Bonnet, Chelsea Lazkani (joined season five), Alanna Gold (joined season eight), and Sofia Vergara’s sister Sandra (joined season nine) won’t be returning for the upcoming 10th season, according to the Daily Mail.

None of the ousted cast members has addressed their departure on social media aside from Alanna, who took to Instagram to tell her followers that she decided to leave the show in February.

The Canadian star said: ‘It’s been an amazing journey and I’ve definitely grown a lot from the experience. However, I just kind of decided that it was time for me to focus on other things that are taking priority in my life right now.

‘Since then I’ve been focusing on real estate, a new business venture and I’ve been putting a lot more energy into my personal life, my mental health and, of course,[her dog] Porcini…’

In her caption, she wrote: ‘End of one chapter, beginning of another.

‘Thank you for all the love and support through this wild journey. I’m really excited for what’s next.’

Meanwhile, fans as a whole are absolutely gutted at the news of the shock exits.

‘I’m so shocked at this overhaul. Getting rid of Mary is truly surprising, I never imagined Jason [Oppenheim] allowing that to happen,’ Reddit user PinkBunny86 shared.

‘Cancel Sunset already. This shouldn’t even be considered a real estate show anymore,’ P31998 declared.

Others are more optimistic.

‘This is definitely giving “return to form”. Bringing two of the OG girls and a semi-OG, with some new girls, I assume, might be what the show needs,’ Johndoesisoptimistic shared.

‘The show does need sweeping changes if it’s gonna stay on the air, everything was falling apart,’ pococurantina agreed.

Why Christine Quinn’s return will save the show

Senior Showbiz Reporter and Selling Sunset fan Pierra Willix reflects on Christine Quinn’s surprise return…

While I’ve continued to be a loyal viewer of Selling Sunset, my attention has started to wane in recent seasons, and I’ve found myself growing tired of some of the show’s cast and the constant rehashing of whatever drama they have with each other.

Watching yelling matches across dinner tables and women ganging up on each other has seen the show lose its sparkle and feel exhausting to watch.

Having Christine back in the fold will give things a shake-up and see the show’s ‘villain’ return to speak her mind – but maybe this time airing her issues and moving on to allow viewers dive back into the best part of the show – the enviable property porn.

Meanwhile, there are also two returning cast members: Christine and Heather Rae El Moussa, who were announced at the end of April. A TV source has also revealed that Bre Tiesi and Amanza Smith are coming back as well.

Explaining why she returned, Christine shared: ‘[Creator] Adam DiVello and I reconnected after my divorce, and I really appreciate him extending the invitation to come back on.

‘I’m returning from a very different place, with more perspective, confidence, and clarity.’

Meanwhile, reflecting on the upcoming season, Jason shared with TMZ: ‘I think I’m more excited about this season than probably any season ever.

‘The first few seasons I was anxious and nervous, and then I was more stressed the last few seasons.’

Adding about the returning cast members: ‘I love those two, I love having some OGs back. I think this season’s going to be awesome. I’m really, honestly, looking forward to it.’
