Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, were tragically killed in their home on Sunday, December 15, and TMZ has released new details about the state of their bodies when they were discovered by the actor’s daughter.
According to the outlet, “When police arrived on the scene Sunday afternoon around 3:40 PM, rigor mortis appeared to have set in Rob and Micheleâs bodies — meaning they had been deceased for hours before their daughter Romy arrived.”
People further adds that the two were “found dead in their bedroom,” with the source saying that they “were found where they were murdered.”
This news comes after it was reported that Reiner’s daughter, Romy, was the one who discovered her parents deceased.
CNN states that Romy lived across the street from her parents and “went to check on her parents around 3 p.m. local time Sunday when she discovered their bodies, according to an individual close to the situation.”
“Detectives, speaking to family members, learned the Reinersâ son Nick had been staying at the guest house on the property and was not present when law enforcement arrived,” the outlet added. “They also learned of his history of drug addiction and of an argument that occurred between Nick Reiner and his parents at Conan OâBrienâs Christmas party the night before, according to the individual.”
Romy Reiner Called Billy Crystal After Discovering Her Parents’ Bodies
Legendary actors Billy Crystal and Larry David were spotted at Reiner’s house on the night of the actor’s passing, ABC 7 Los Angeles reported, adding that they  âstayed briefly before departing,â with Crystal being described by a neighbor as looking âlike he was about to cry.â
TMZ, followed that up, adding that Crystal saw the bodies of Reiner and his wife after they were killed.Â
âSources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Rob and Micheleâs daughter Romy called Crystal and his wife not long after she called police to report finding her parents brutally murdered inside their Brentwood home Sunday,â the outlet wrote. âSources with direct knowledge tell us Billy and his wife raced over to the house â and were there so quickly, one source tells us â the couple actually saw their slain friends ⦠and wanted to say their goodbyes.â
Nick Reiner Has Been Charged In The Death Of His Parents
On Tuesday, December 16, the Los Angeles district attorney, Nathan Hochman, announced that Nick Reiner will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder as it pertains to the killing of his parents, Rob and Michele. Hochman added that Nick faces life in prison without the possibility of parole, and can even possibly face the death penalty.
Nick Reiner was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning but had not been âmedically clearedâ to do so, his attorney Alan Jackson told reporters, according to the Los Angeles Times.
His arraignment will be set for a later date.
