New ‘Gilmore Girls’-Themed Episode of ‘House Hunters’ Is The Perfect Autumnal Hug

There’s a reason so many of us turn to ‘Gilmore Girls’ the moment there’s a chill in the air. The feel-good television show makes for instant comfort viewing thanks to its built-in community, walkable neighborhoods, and of course, the endless hours sipping diner coffee and catching up at Luke’s. It’s a dream life – and one that mother-daughter duo Sarah Elizabeth and 10-year-old Maria wanted to make a reality while searching for a new home on ‘House Hunters’.

Head to Stars Hollow By Way of ‘House Hunters’

HGTV treated viewers to a special Gilmore Girls-themed episode of ‘House Hunters’ on Saturday, October 4, highlighting Sarah Elizabeth and Maria’s plight to channel their inner Lorelai and Rory. The pair decided to leave their rental condo in downtown Atlanta behind in favor of a larger home in the suburbs.

“Watching Gilmore Girls I kind of fell in love with their house,” said Sarah Elizabeth. “It was so beautiful, the light blue, the white, the deck with the swing, it just seemed like the perfect cozy mother-daughter home.”

“My vision is a Stars Hollow-type community with beautiful, peaceful nature,” Sarah Elizabethadded of her vision for herself and her daughter in their new home. Maria, on the other hand, wanted to maintain a “city, busy vibe” and a more modern home to match her vision.

Although the duo differ in terms of the exact vibe their personal Stars Hollow should hold, they do agree that their new home must have a cozy front porch, a book nook for curling up with a good read, and an attached en-suite bathroom for Maria.

Your Classic Lorelai-Rory Relationship

“She as a ten-year-old is super organized,” Sarah Elizabeth tells HGTV while Maria adds that her mom, on the other hand, is much more sloppy. The duo go on to banter over who exactly gets the final say when deciding on which home to buy, but it’s clear the experience brought them closer together while setting them up for their own cozy Stars Hollow experience year-round.

“I’d say our relationship as mother-daughter is best friends, don’t you think?” Sarah Elizabeth jokes to her daughter.

“Best friends is strong,” Maria jokes back,” but definitely friends.”

“They are so Lorelei and Rory coded,” one viewer commented.

“Yessss as we were looking at houses, we felt we WERE Lorelei & Rory!” Sarah Elizabeth responded. “That’s how we finally chose an amazing home.”
