<p id=”par-1_27″>The next star of <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/the-bachelor/?swcfpc=1″><em>The Golden Bachelor</em></a> has a warning for women on his upcoming season of the ABC dating show: If you’re over 60, you’re out. </p>
<p id=”par-2_23″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/new-golden-bachelor-former-nfl-player.html/”>Former NFL player Mel Owens</a>, who is 66, didn’t mince words when speaking about what he was looking for in a potential partner. </p>
<p id=”par-3_43″>“[The producers] asked me, ‘What’s your preferences?’ So I just said, 45 to 60. Just being honest, right?’” he said during an appearance on <a href=”https://mgoblue.com/podcasts/in-the-trenches-513-mel-owens/1393″ target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”><em>In The Trenches</em></a><em>, </em>a<em> </em>podcast focused on University of Michigan football. (Owens was a Wolverine from 1976 to 1980.) </p>
<p id=”par-4_11″>“If they’re 60 or over, I’m cutting them,” he declared. </p>
<p id=”par-5_22″>In <em>The Golden Bachelor </em>Season 1, leading man Gerry Turner was 72, and the women ranged in age from 60 to 75.</p>
<p id=”par-6_33″>Owens added that a producer reassured him that all the women were “gonna be hot,” while also urging him to avoid using terms like cut when talking about <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/joan-vassos-early-exit-on-the-golden-bachelor-may-have-secured-her-the-lead-on-the-golden-bachelorette.html/”>eliminating women from the show</a>. </p>
<p id=”par-7_30″>The former linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams added that he was confident that <em>The Golden Bachelor </em>team would put together a solid — and attractive — group of women. </p>
<p id=”par-8_23″>“They’re going to be beautiful. I know they are,” said Owens, who now works as a lawyer specializing in cases involving sports injuries. </p>

<p id=”par-9_12″>Aside from age, what else is Owens looking for in a partner? </p>
<p id=”par-10_33″>“They’ve got to be fit, because I stay in shape and work out and stuff,” the said. “And I told them to try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs.”</p>
<p id=”par-11_16″>But looks aren’t everything, Owens said. He also wants to meet “someone who’s a lifetime learner.” </p>
<p id=”par-12_24″>“Someone who enjoys life and to work out and stay fit,” he said. “And eat and have fun and be energetic and live life.”</p>
<p id=”par-13_17″><em>The Golden Bachelor </em>airs Wednesdays this fall on ABC. Episodes will stream the next day on Hulu. </p>
