Fire Emblem fans can look forward to new details on Fortune’s Weave this week, but anyone eager for Ocarina Of Time news will need to wait a bit longer.
Given how little information Nintendo shared about its remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, during the June Nintendo Direct, it’s obvious it’s going to have its own dedicated showcase later in the year.
In typical Nintendo fashion, the company doesn’t appear to see its most anticipated release of 2026 as an immediate priority, since the next Direct has received a surprise announcement… and it has nothing to do with Zelda.
Instead, Nintendo is focusing on promoting Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, although this could indirectly give fans an idea of when the Zelda Direct will happen.
When is the next Nintendo Direct?
The Fire Emblem Direct is scheduled to air tomorrow on Tuesday, August 4 at 3pm BST and will last approximately 20 minutes.

Exactly what will be shown isn’t confirmed but considering Nintendo has only released two very brief trailers for the game, the Direct will likely provide a proper explanation for Fortune’s Weave’s gameplay and how its four separate storylines work.
As a reminder, it’s very much evoking Fire Emblem: Three Houses and is speculated to be a distant sequel, set in the same world – although it’s centred around a gladiatorial arena rather than a school.
While it can feel like intentional trolling on Nintendo’s part, to keep announcing Directs that are not the ones fans are waiting for (there were seven before we got to the one and only general topic one this year), Fortune’s Weave is the next Nintendo exclusive due to be released, on September 17.
The Ocarina Of Time remake, meanwhile, has no release date beyond a 2026 window and the prevailing theory is that it’ll serve as Nintendo’s big Christmas game and be released sometime in November.
This is also in keeping with Nintendo’s strategy this year of airing Directs focused on only one specific game, such as Star Fox and Splatoon Raiders, a month before their respective launches. Knowing this, it might be possible to estimate when the Zelda Direct will air.
After Fortune’s Weave, the next Nintendo exclusive is Nintendo Switch Sports Resort on October 22, so that’ll probably get its own Direct in mid-September.
If Ocarina Of Time really is out November, then the Zelda Direct might not air till after Nintendo Switch Sports Resort has come out, which would put it in late October.
This is ignoring the possibility of another general Direct in September, which has consistently been a thing in previous years, but Nintendo’s unpredictability means this isn’t guaranteed.
Nintendo may also be planning a separate Direct for The Duskbloods, its FromSoftware Switch 2 exclusive that’s meant to be launching this year but lacks an exact release date.
It barely made an appearance at the last Direct, but it is running a network test later this month, so new details should be shared after that wraps up. Maybe even at the end of August, since Nintendo has aired two Directs in a single month a few times this year already.
