Johnâs choice of hat has been attracting a lot of attention in recent weeks, and the actor previously revealed in a CNN interview that he was wearing it to pay homage to old-school filmmakers. âThe old school directors wore berets and glasses. And I thought, thatâs what Iâm doing,â he said.Â

“Propeller One-Way Night Coach” is written and directed by John, an entertainment industry veteran, and it is adapted from a 1997 children’s novel. It is also a big moment for Ella, who has a starring role.Â
For Ella, some may argue it was only a matter of time before she followed in her famous parentsâ footsteps and embraced a career in the limelight. She is also the daughter of the late actress Kelly Preston. In an interview with People, Ella spoke lovingly about her father and his unwavering support for her career choices. “He was always very supportive,” she said. “He and my mom were always supportive of whatever I wanted to do. So even if I decided to do something else in the end, they would have been supportive of that, too.”
She continued, “But I think that they were happy because they enjoy this job so much, and I have an equal love for it. So I think that they were just happy that I enjoyed doing something that much.”
Ella also shared with People that the experience of working with her family was truly special, referring to it as “one of the best experiences ever just for the fact that I got to do it with most of my family and with my dad directing.” She added, âMy dad let me be a part of a lot of the creative aspects of the film, which was so nice, and we would kind of lean on each other with advice and run everything by each other. So it was just magnificent.”
John expressed his pride during a May 19 appearance on âThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,â telling the host his daughter was “fantastic.” He added, “A star is born right.”
