If you’re staying in this New Year’s Eve and want to cozy up in front of the television with your favorite snack and beverage, there’s no shortage of sports games to watch.
However, that doesn’t mean you’re only limited to football games, and there are plenty of other options to ring in the new year with a good movie or show to keep you entertained until the start of 2026.
New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper & Andy Cohen
Every New Year’s Eve isn’t complete without watching Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen keke throughout the night.
As usual, their coverage of Times Square kicks off at 8:00 pm ET, with guests Robyn, Stephen Colbert, and Florence + The Machine set to appear, along with many other celebs.
You never know what these two will come up with live on-air, so it’s always worth tuning in just for their hijinks.
Wicked: One Wonderful Night
“Wicked: One Wonderful Night” aired on November 6, 2025, on NBC, with the special streaming on Peacock the next day, but if you missed it, you’re in luck.
The network is airing the show on December 31 at 8:00 pm EST, ending at 10:00 pm, giving you plenty of time to get ready for the ball to drop at midnight.
Led by “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, viewers will also see performances by Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum.
The Jonas Brothers’ New Year’s Eve Concert
Fans of The Jonas Brothers can watch them perform from the comfort of their own homes on New Year’s Eve.
Those with Samsung TV Plus will be able to see the singing siblings rock the stage from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida at 10 pm ET, per Deadline.
Viewers can expect to hear tunes from “Greetings From Your Hometown,” as well as The Jonas Brothers’ earlier hits.
’80s Cult Classics
If you’re a fan of ’80s movies, you’re in luck. AMC is airing cult classics on December 31, with “The Karate Kid, Part II” on at 9:45 am and the original film at 12:15 pm.
After getting your dose of Ralph Macchio, stay tuned for “Big” at 3:15 pm, followed by “The Princess Bride” at 5:45 pm.
The nostalgia continues with “Sixteen Candles” at 7:45, and “The Breakfast Club” two hours later, for some good old-fashioned vintage Molly Ringwald.
And, if you’re still up at midnight, all you’ll need are some tasty waves and a cool buzz while watching “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” Totally tubular way to spend New Year’s Eve.
Harry Potter Marathon
Turn your New Year’s Eve celebrations into a Harry Potter marathon starting at 10:00 am with “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” airing on Bravo.
The three-and-a-half-hour film is followed by “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” with “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” rounding out the first three installments of the franchise.
Sadly, the next four books are absent from the roster, but fans will still get treated to over seven hours of witchcraft and wizardry.
Immerse Yourself in the Marvel Universe
Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will enjoy a whole day of superhero/villain fun. Starting from 7:00 am, early risers will be treated to “Black Widow,” starring Scarlett Johansson.
“Thor: The Dark World” follows at 10:00 am, with “Thor: Ragnarok” on at 12:30 pm, and “Thor: Love and Thunder” airing at 3:30 pm.
Next, fans can watch “Avengers: Age of Ultron” at 6:00 pm and conclude 2025 with “Avengers: Infinity War, which starts at 9:00 pm and ends at 12:30 am.
That’s one full day to end the year with a literal bang!
