Nick Knowles criticises people taking aim at wife after ‘tough’ hospital operation

Nick Knowles has hit out at vile trolls for criticising his wife after she was rushed to hospital.

DIY SOS star Nick, 63, took to social media on Saturday to share an update about his wife Katie Dadzie’s health condition.

Posting a selfie of the pair, Nick explained how Katie, 35, was back in hospital again after she was rushed into emergency surgery last month when she suffered ‘crippling pain’ from a hysterectomy.

Now, however, after appearing on ITV’s Lorraine, Nick has shared how people online have made spiteful comments about his wife, who he married in June earlier this year.

The TV presenter explained: ‘[Katie’s] got hundreds of thousands of people paying attention to her journey and then she had a setback last week and she had to go in for a really tough operation.

‘We were in hospital this Saturday actually, so literally just a few days ago.’

Responding to Lorraine Kelly, who said it was ‘unbelievable’ that she is already out of hospital, Nick added: ‘It’s a combination of being restless and not doing as she was told.

‘She just won’t sit still because she works so hard.’

But, after Lorraine praised the fact that Katie was getting up in the morning and putting makeup on as ‘it’s your shield’, Nick revealed the ‘odd’ messages she has been receiving.

‘It’s really odd because you get hundreds of messages when she was posting being in hospital saying “hope you’re well”, “terrible time for you” and then you get the odd one that says “time to put on a face of makeup”,’ he said.

‘And you’re just like… it’s just nuts what people say isn’t it?’

Before Nick could continue, Lorraine insisted: ‘Do not listen to these terrible people. You spread positivity. That’s what we want.’

Katie, a lingerie business owner, underwent her hysterectomy procedure in July this year after ‘surviving’ years of pain due to PCOS and endometriosis.

However, just 12 weeks later she suffered a major setback in her recovery and ended up in A&E.

She explained that where her cervix had been sewn up it had then ruptured, leaving her in pain, bleeding and close to passing out.

She also admitted that it was the ‘most terrifying day I’ve ever had’.

Last year, Nick suffered a health scare himself when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament while rehearsing with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk on Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC presenter – who also tore a bicep trying to change a car tyre prior to his knee injury – tried his best to perform on the show but was then sent home by the judges.
