Nicole Kidman is embracing strength and self-discovery in the wake of heartbreak. Less than two weeks after filing for divorce from Keith Urban following 19 years of marriage, the Oscar-winning actress reflected on how time and experience have helped her face life’s most challenging moments with strength and grace.

“The best part is the experiences that you’ve accumulated,” Kidman, 58, told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview published October 9. “You go, ‘Oh, I’ve been here before. I actually know how to handle this now.’ Or, ‘Maybe I haven’t been in this place, but I’ve experienced something similar, and I do know that I will get through it.’”

She continued, “There’s something to knowing that no matter how painful, or how difficult, or how devastating something is, there is a way through.”

The “Practical Magic” actress acknowledged that growth often requires deep emotional work. “You’re going to have to feel it,” Kidman said. “You’re not going to be able to numb it. You’re going to feel like you’re broken, but if you move gently and slowly, it does pass.”

For Kidman, resilience doesn’t mean ignoring pain; it means allowing it to transform her. The actress said that over time, she’s learned to trust that healing comes from facing emotions head-on rather than avoiding them.

Finding Strength Through Motherhood

Despite her personal challenges, Kidman shared that her greatest source of strength continues to be her children: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, whom she shares with Urban, as well as Bella, 32, and Connor, 30, from her marriage to Tom Cruise.

“My children give me the purpose of being their protector and their guide,” she told the outlet. “Promising them that I’m here and that, no matter what, there’s always a safe place to grow up in.”

Kidman filed for divorce on September 30, requesting to be the primary residential parent for her and Urban’s daughters, Sunday and Faith.

A source told People, “Nicole is honoring her work commitments, as is Keith,” adding that both remain dedicated to their family and professional responsibilities.

Despite the emotional toll of the split, Kidman has continued to appear poised and self-assured. On October 4, she attended the amfAR Dallas Gala, stunning in a sleek black velvet gown with a sweetheart neckline.

“Nicole’s strength and composure have been remarkable,” an insider told People. “She’s focusing on her daughters and her work while gracefully moving forward.”

Neither Urban nor Kidman has made a direct statement confirming or addressing their split.
