Nicole Kidman extended an olive branch to her ex-husband, Keith Urban, over the weekend.
The Oscar-winner took to social media to wish her children’s dad a happy Father’s Day — one of the first times she has publicly reached out to him since their split in September last year.
The former couple, who share Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, were together for almost 20 years, having first met at the G’Day USA gala in 2005.
To mark the occasion, the 59-year-old shared a black-and-white throwback photo of Keith and the two girls as children.
In the snap, Keith was piggybacking his daughters as they smiled at the camera.
Alongside another photo of her own late father, Dr Antony Kidman, who passed in 2014, Nicole captioned the images: ‘Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers.’
Nicole recently came under fire from fans back in March when she failed to include her two older children in a Mother’s Day post.
The Scarpetta star posted an old image of her with Sunday and Faith as kids. The trio were surrounded by stunning desert scenery as Nicole also piggybacked one of the girls, while bending down to talk to the other.
Nicole then captioned the post: ‘To my beautiful girls, the greatest joy is being your mother. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers in the world.’
It left fans confused as to why she omitted her older children, Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom she adopted in the 1990s with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.
People were quick to notice their absence, taking to the comments section to question their relationship.
‘What about your adopted kids?’ one person penned, while another said: ‘What about the other 2??? C’mon, Nicole.’
‘What about your 2 older kids??’ a third asked, as a fourth echoed: ‘I thought you had 4 kids!’
However, others were quick to the defence, reminding fans that both Bella and Connor have ‘made it very clear they do not want to be mentioned on public posts at all’.
‘She is simply respecting their wishes,’ a fan added.
As for Nicole and Keith, the pair called time on their marriage last year. It was soon reported that Nicole had filed for divorce; however, Keith was the one who sought the separation.
Reports claimed that the Oscar winner ‘did not want’ the divorce, and was ‘fighting to save the marriage.’
Nicole was also thought to be taking care of their daughters and ‘holding the family together’ through the ‘difficult time.’
Surprising child custody agreements obtained by the Daily Mail confirmed this. They showed that the exes had signed and agreed to Nicole having the girls for 306 days of the year, while Keith would be responsible for them for the other 59.
The court papers revealed that Keith’s time with his daughters was written as 10am on Saturdays until 6pm on Sundays every other weekend, while Nicole received ‘primary residential parent.’
Special occasions were divided between the pair, too, with Nicole getting Sunday and Faith on Mother’s Day and over Easter. Keith will have them for Father’s Day and during Thanksgiving.
